Well, Nancy, I've been getting a little lonely, too--waiting to hear from AR researchers. So, I think I'll just toss out some names here and see what happens. Probably nothing. Sometimes I think I'm the only one researching my bunch! (Except a couple of researching-buddy cousins). Currently looking for information on the family of James (M.? Alfred?) PIERCE born 1846 KY and wife Catherine "Kate" LEWELLEN b. 1840s IN. This family lived possibly first Izard County and later Batesville, AR. Children: Alice Nora, Perry, Elizabeth, Linnie Belle, Edna, Ivy. I found James and Catherine and their daughter Alice (born 1868)--in Barry County, MO, 1870. They were in Independence County, I believe, by 1874 or so. In 1870 they were living in Missouri with one L. J. PIERCE age 48 and wife Rachel age 35. This could be James PIERCE's father and possibly a stepmother. James was age 21 at the time and Catherine 24. There is a LEWELLEN family in Barry County, MO, with preference for given names Rawley (Raleigh?) and Catherine. Don't know yet if there is a connection. After migrating from Independence County, James PIERCE lived for a while in Hood County, Texas, and apparently died in Jones County, Texas, 1927. I have been unable to locate a death certificate for him. His wife Catherine LEWELLEN died 1929 Fannin County, TX. I plan to send for her death certificate soon. Anyway, Alice Nora PIERCE married Franklin Price COLE IN 1884, and Independence County was their home until around 1910. FP, or "Babe" as he was known, decided to migrate to Texas, and that's why I'm a Texan and not an Arkansan--either would have been fine with me. Other families related to this Independence County family (Cushman, actually) are: PAINTER, WREN, TOSH, BARTON, WEEKS, BANNING, MELTON, FRANCIS, MEEKER, PULLEN, BLANKENSHIP. Sincerely, Gene K. Johnson
