They appear to have originated in Georgia, migrating to Arkansas via Alabama, Tennessee, and Missouri. Census entries... 1840 Alabama, Benton, page 31 Benj. The second marriage took place about 1908, I can't find it anywhere online.) http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ar/stone/land/stone.txt Samuel B. McMahan... http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ar/stone/obits/fulksaew.txt Obit mentions surviving sons Miles and Winfield McMahan. LDS entries suggest that the wife of Benjamin McMahan was Elizabeth Beene, daughter of Obediah Beene and Barbara Heifner. Obediah Beene can be found in Marion, Tennessee census. He appears to have had a son Owen R. Beene, possible source of the name of Owen R. McMahan. You may wish to get in touch with John Payne -- he has posted on the McMahan board and seems to know quite a bit about the Beene connection and people migrating from Marion TN to Boone AR.
