Can Any one tell me where Alder brook Cemetery is, and if there is a book of who is buried in there? --- Glen Hicks --- [email protected] --- EarthLink: It's your Internet.
Looking for any trace of James William Covington, b 1879, parents were Armand/Armon A. Covington and Mary Elizabeth (Bettie) McLeary. The family lived near Newark, Independence Co AR around 1900.

I do have a William Patterson Montgomery who was my ggreatgrandfather buried at Lee's Chapel close to Sandtown, Indpendence Co., Ark. He had a son name James Patterson Montgomery who is my great grandfather. Can you give alittle more information about your W. P. Montgomery. I have research my Montgomery's. Myrvin G. Harris
I'm looking for information on my grandparents, Joseph Otho Pool "Jake" and Bertie Montgomery her fathers name was WP Montgomery.
Dee, Per census, it looks like your folks went from TN to Ala., before going to Ark., so don't think mine are related. Mine were in 1830 McMinn TN, 1840-50 in Polk/Bradley, TN, and then in Ark about 1859. I do have William's through my line, and missing a William born 1830, and I think one born around 1790-1810 or so. Barbara in Texas
As with this family I have several William Anderson's. My first William b. abt 1805 in TN d. abt 1885 in Independence Co. AR. His son William Bowden Anderson b. 1850 d 19?? had a son named William Larkin b. 1875 in AR d. 1956 in CA. Possible match?
We believe William Anderson moved to Independence County about 1848. He was born abt 1805 in TN and died in the 1880's, I think. He was married to Elisabeth ? abt. 1822. They had at least ten children. What is your connection to William Anderson? Is our William likely your William, too? Ray Wilson
What dates do you have on your William Anderson, and when was he in Independence area? Thanks, Barbara
i have a faye deloach from woodruff county

Hi Teri, Thanks for your reply and for the information. I will check out the TN counties you mentioned. My grandfather was born in Batesville, AR, but I have the feeling the family moved around quite a bit. Thanks again, Georgiana
HI Georgiana, The Lewis are not my direct line. But, I have seen the name as I have been reserching my family. I have a branch that was in Independence Co- near Batesville- Cuna P.O. actually on the 1860 census. The father Joseph Luckey died and his wife - Susan Baker went back to TN with their children between 1867 and 1870. I have seen your Lewis name a lot over in TN as I've done my research. You might try looking at the northern Madison/ southern Gibson or Carroll Co area. I know a JOhn B. Lewis m Jane Baker- Half sister to my Susan Baker Luckey in Madison Co. and is buried at Antioch Baptist Cem. Hope this gives you a clue. Teri
Looking for information on John Grover Lewis, married to Dora Alice Mosely. Not sure of dates. I believe that Dora Alice died in 1941, John in abt 1964. Burial is in Monett Memorial Cemetary in Craighead County. Their son, my grandfather, Aubrey C. Lewis, was born in Batesville in 1918. Aubrey moved to Michigan in the early 1950's. Son George Albert Lewis was born in Cave City AR, married Lena Maude Washburn. He died in Sikeston, MO. Other children were Estelle, Elvie, Norma Jean, Juanita, Pearl and J.W., and several others, whose names I don't know. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. My grandfather passed away in 1989, and no one in the family seems to know much about the Lewis relatives and ancestors. This is proving to be a very hard family to trace. Thanks, Georgiana ============================== ----------------------- Headers --------------------------------
I did number the sections, and describe them using the road names that bounded them, and add the number before each name in the listing so anyone that might want to actually find the grave wouldn't have such a hard time. Also, a portion of the cemetery, across Sidney Street from Oaklawn, has been named Thornesberry Gray Cemetery. That is also online with the link at the same address I put before. And thank all you guys for your appreciation!! I've done several in Independence County this summer and last summer, and most I finished in one day, except Blue Springs in Newark, and that took two and a half. Oaklawn took me a full two weeks, working four or five hours a day, starting at 5 a.m. (daylight) because it has been so hot and humid here. Cindy, That looks like a lot of typing. Thanks for taking the time to go over and record the graves then put them on line for the rest of us. Frank Blankenship
Cindy, Thanks for all of your hard work. Myrvin
The link for surnames beginning with A-B in Oaklawn Cemetery is now online at http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/arkansas/ar-independence.html. I hope to have the next portion online in a day or two. (There are over 7,000 names, so it takes awhile to get it typed and saved in text format) Cindy Treadway
