Hi! I don't suppose anyone would know of any "oldtimers" in the area that might remember this SHAW family? The son, Willie H. SHAW would be about 81 years old now, and James W. SHAW would be about 88 year old. There's a chance they're alive and well somewhere, and I'd love to get in touch with them if they are. 1920 Sharp Co., AR, Richwoods Twp., ED 141, sh. 2b, 6 January 1920: 34/34 Charles C. Hi! I'm searching for info on the James D. KILLMAN household that was in Izard Co. in 1900, Independence Co. in 1910 and Sharp Co. in 1920. Death: The key piece of info that I'd like to find is any death info for James D. KILLMAN b. 1851 KY - it looks like he is in Independence Co in 1910, but not in the AR census at all in 1920, leading me to believe that he died between 1910 and 1920, probably in Independence Co. or Sharp Co. Also, it looks like Clara L. KILLMAN died between 1900 and 1910, probably in Izard Co. or Independence Co. And in 1910, Jane Ann LAWSON has joined the household as a widow. I'd love to find the death certificate for her husband, who probably passed away between 1900 and 1910, but I don't have a first name or even know that he died in AR. Also, Jane may also have died between 1910 and 1920. Does anyone have any cemetery records, death records or probate records for those counties that would be willing to look for James D. KILLMAN, Clara L. KILLMAN, Mr. LAWSON and Jane Ann LAWSON? Marriage: Also, it looks like Dora Ethel KILLMAN married Charles C. SHAW about Oct./Nov. 1909 probably in Independence Co., but possibly Sharp or Izard Co. Anyone have access to marriage record for those counties that would be willing to look for that? Here's the 1900, 1910 and 1920 census info I have for the household: 1900, AR, Izard Co, Franklin Township, SD 2, ED 161, Sheet 5, page 304a, line 15, 74/74: KILLMAN, James D, head, w, m, Oct 1851, 48, m, 16, KY, KY, KY, farmer, R, F, 72; Drucilla C, wife, w, f, Jun 1860, 39, m, 16, 6, 4, MO, MO, AL; Clara L, dau, w, f, Feb 1888, 12, AR; Dora E, dau, w, f, Sep 1890, 9, AR; Maud A, dau, w, f, Mar 1883, 7, AR; David E, son, w, m, Aug 1895, 4, AR. 1910 Independence Co., AR, Barren Twp., ED 25, sh. 1b, 16-18 April 1910: 12/12 James D. I found something odd yesterday. According to the book "Confederate Soldiers Buried in Arkansas" by Rena Marie Knight, my g-grandfather P.J. Young is buried in Batesville Cemetery, Independence County. The odd part is that I visited his grave and took a picture of the stone at Mt. Carmel Cemetery near Sidney in Sharp Co. Ms. Knight lists a number of source materials for this compilation, but no way to determine exactly where her info about P.J. came from. I don't doubt that this is the same person, my research shows that he was the only P.J. Young in the area who died January of 1920. Does anyone have the Greens' book handy to see if this is where she found this? It was listed as a source... Alderbrook Cemetery is off of AR14 in the Desha community southwest of Batesville, AR (& south of the White River). It's about 3 miles west of the AR167/AR14 junction. I found a book at the AR History Commission, "Tombstone Inscriptions of Independence County, Arkansas" which lists that cem., as well as others. I think the book was written in 1968. A. Skaggs
