DODD in my database. 1. Benjamin H. DODD, born about 1844 in Arkansas, the son of Abner H. DODD and Mary Jane MARTIN of Independence Co., AR 2. Benjamin H. DODD, born 19 Apr 1875 in Arkansas, the son of James M. DODD and Joicy Caroline DAVIS who were married in Independence Co., AR and moved to Red River Co., TX 3. Benjamin Hardin DODD born 17 Nov 1877 to John S. DODD and Mary Ann WOOD of Independence Co., AR. Benjamin H. DODD born 1844 is the uncle of the other two. All three of these people were most likely named for Benjamin HARDIN, who fought in the Revolutionary War, died in 1848, and is buried in the Wyatt Cemetery, Independence Co., AR. Benjamin HARDIN is the father of Nancy HARDIN who married William MARTIN. Their daughter, Mary Jane MARTIN, married Abner H. DODD. I have never seen a connection of this Hardin family with John Wesley Hardin.

I looked in my copy of the cemetery book which was published in 1980. I didn't see any name that was even close to Hanshanty and the book does list alternate names. I guess that doesn't mean that a cemetery by that name didn't exist but when this book was published it wasn't listed.

Also. anyone know why Elias would travel to Illinois about 1870 to get married, have a son and move back to Arkansas? It seems this may be what he did. We don't know a lot yet. Leah

I would appreciate a lookup in the book, "Cemetery Records of Independence County, Arkansas" by Chalman E. Green and Mae Chinn Green if anyone has it. I am looking for Sarah FAULKNER. It was spelled FOUGHTNER at one time. She possibly died March 4, 1911 at age 66, so born about 1845. On the 1910 census for Independence Co., AR, there is a Sarah Foughtner, age 65, widowed, born in Missouri, that is a servant in the household of H. V. MERIWETHER. I think this is the Sarah I'm looking for. Thank you for any help anyone can give. Jenwyl Pitt
