H.) Patterson was ambushed and murdered by bootleggers. I know he was at earlier points in his life the sheriff of Woodruff County, and I've found a couple of enchanting acoounts of his part in dealing with a train robbery in 1891. I know he died on May 20, 1920, and is buried in the Augusta Memorial Cemetery. What I don't know is the story about his death. Are there newspaper accounts? (Gary, do you have anything in your vast collection?)

They had children Mamie, James, Jesse Jr., Bertie, Eula, Beula and Edna...the family was listed on the 1900, 1910, and 1920 Census's for Independence County. I would like to find a male ADAMS descendant of this group who would be willing to participate in a DNA test to help determine ancestry back in Pennsylvania. Jesse Sr. also had brothers named James, born about 1868 and Morrel born about 1866. The father of these three Adams brothers was Ephraim Adams married to Sarah Adams. Any help in locating any of the descendants of this Adams family would be appreciated.

My most distant known McLAIN was my gggg grandfather Charles b about 1785 (?) and wife Elizabeth Unknown. We know he was in Gallatin IL prior to coming to Tennessee, we suspect he (or some of his family line) were in VA and KY prior to TN. He and a son Charles (my ggg grandfather) were signers on a Legislative Petition to State of TN to establish Weakley Co TN from Henry Co TN in 1823. Other given names in the line in West TN were John, James, Allen, Newburn (Nuborn, etc), Joseph, William. My ggg grandfather Charles came to Lawrence Co AR prior to the 1850 census, but on his brother John's line, some descendants went to Independence County, and also on descendants on John's line, some were in western AR and then OK. So the line was large and scattered to several locations not long after the death of the senior Charles in TN. Several of us researching are participating in the Clan MacLEAN DNA project at FamilyTree DNA and have proven our links with the Weakley County TN line ...but that is as far back as we can yet prove ...with the exception that we know they were in Gallatin IL ..where it is likley my ggg grandfather was birb *the son Charles (Jr) of Charles (Sr) Some personal notes and family lore place them in Ky ...or at least brothers, uncles and cousins ...and probably also in VA. Just no proof yet. Charles Jr b about 1808-09 IL was mar. to Perlina A. UNKNOWN (Polina A.) b about 1811 TN. She died 1860 Lawrence Co AR. In 1866 he remarried Sarah Harmon Fry Riley in Lawrence Co and when he died 1869 she is named in the Loose Probate Records ...as is his daughter in law Susan E. MULLEN/ MULLINS who had by then remarried Wm. H. FLETCHER as her husband David W. McLANE (McLAIN) had died prior to 1855. Also, 2 people in my line married people from Loogootee area of INdiana ...married a MOSIER and a TEWELL with ties to CISSELL / CISSEL / CECIL line. TEWELL various spellings ranging from TUll to TUEL, etc. Also SHARUM / SCHRUM / SHEARUM figure in these lines ...all from Kentucky prior to coming to around Martin / Loogootee Indiana. Hope to hear from you. Audrey in East TN

We know names, dates or approx dates and approx locations of were they grew up/given up of 3 children. The other two we have sex and approx dob but no name. I have been working on the Henry Wilson Hunt line and am in contact with someone working on the Nell Hunt line. If any one has any info please post and/or email me. Here is the info that we have ~ Mary Hunt b: approx 1876 supposedly was given to a family in Jacksonport, AR. Henry Wilson Hunt b: 3/4/1879 in Mo or Ar ~ found him in the 1900 Fed Census living with the Hazelrigg family in Salado, Ar as a servant. I assume that this is the family that he was given to. Nell Hunt b: 7/15/1881 in West Plains, Mo. ~ was given to a family in the Sandtown, Ar area but we have no names. Two other brothers were born approx in 1878 and 1883. But there is no other information. I (again) assume that they were given up in the same areas. We do not know why the children were given away. Any informaiton is greatly appreciated.

There are NASH people there who descend from Margaret Abigale FRENCH Flynn NASH. I recently was found by a cousin who is a FRENCH but they don't live in Indep Co. I'm hoping to convince them to join the DNA project. These are from William E. FRENCH son of Alpheus and Juliet Byrne FRENCH thru Mat L FRENCH. I think you may have had contact with them.
