Well, for one thing, if you happen to be Christian you can read it. If you are something else then you may delete it. Simple, isn't it? Yours in Christ. Excuse me, but why was this posted to a genealogy list where not everyone happens to be "Christian"....?
Imagine this happening to you. One Sunday morning during service, a 2,000 member congregation was surprised to see two men enter, both covered from head to toe in black and carrying sub-machine guns. One of the men proclaimed, "Anyone willing to take a bullet for Christ remain where you are." Immediately, the choir fled, the deacons fled, and most of the congregation fled. Out of the 2,000 there only remained around 20. The man who had spoken took off his hood, looked at the preacher and said "Okay Pastor, I got rid of all the hypocrites. Now you may begin your service. Have a nice day!" And the two men turned and walked out. Too deep not to pass on... Funny how simple it is for people to trash God ... and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how everyone wants to go to heaven provided they do not have to believe, think, say, or do anything the Bible says. Or is it scary? Funny how someone can say "I believe in God" but still follow Satan (who,by the way, also "believes" in God). Funny how you can send a thousand 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding God, the people think twice about sharing. Funny how the lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene pass freely through cyberspace, but the public discussion of Jesus is suppressed in the school and workplace. Funny, isn't it? Funny how someone can be so fired up for Christ on Sunday, but be an invisible Christian the rest of the week. Are you laughing? Funny how when you go to forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it to them Funny how I can be more worried about what other people think of me than what God thinks of me. Are you thinking?

Hi Dortha, I remember you well. You sent some very useful data to my cousin Joan (snail mail) on the George Cole family--son Peter Cole, etc., and lots of good stuff to me e-mail. I know Elizabeth Painter's father William Painter moved to AR with second wife Sarah, but I don't know what part of AR--most likely Independence County. Happy New Year! George, Am seeking information on a William Wray (Ray) family of Independence Co. His wife's name was Catherine and their children were Polly Ann; Elizabeth Jane; Calvin columbus; matilda catherine; William Washington; Easter Melvina; John Meracus; Eliza Eleanor; Sarah Rebecca; maria Marceleet; Martha Missouria; & Moherin E. Of their children, only Elizabeth Jane, Calvin Columbus, Madilda Catherine and Sarah Rebecca lived to adult hood that I know of. Most of the other children died young but I do not know where. This family was in Independence Co., in the 1850 census. Would your cemetery books show any of these folks. Thanks so much - Emma
George, Are you kin to Richard LUSK that lives at Cushman/ Bethesda??? Dortha
Debbie, What GAMBILL, GAMBLE are you researching? I am working on ANTHONY C. GAMEL etc who was in Ind. co Ar in 1860 and then Randolph co Ar by 1870. Could this be some of the same bunch? A.C. was born Ga. There was another bunch of GAMBLE/GAMBILLs in Ind co also. Hi Gene, I don't know if you remember me or not. We wrote several years ago. I am the one working on the COLE family also. If Richard is related to Robert Monroe Lusk of Independence Co., AR, then we are related.
Hi Cindy! Would you have surveyed the Mount Zion Cemetery two or three miles northeast of Newark? What is the URL for the Tombstone Project page? My grandparents Hiram King and Nora Walker King are buried there. I have reason to believe that some of my Brickey ancestors are supposed to be there as well - most likely in the older section to the east of the church. However, when I walked over the cemetery a while back, I failed to find them. It's entirely possible that they are there, but there are no markers for them. However, I didn't have the time to do an exhaustive survey and could well have missed them. If you or someone else has surveyed that cemetery in detail, you may have noticed a marker that I missed. -- Robert W. King I'm an ingenieur, NOT a bloody locomotive driver! Jimmy, You can buy a reproduction of the original Independence County from Desmond Walls Allen. The first ones were 8 1/2" x 11", the new ones are 5 1/2" x 8". They were all typewritten pages to begin with, and with the reduction in size are a little harder to read, but still legible. None of the cemeteries have been updated since the surveys were taken for this book, so it is the most up-to-date source available, short of going there yourself. This is the info from Desmond's site ( http://www.ArkansasResearch.com/ ) Go to Books for Sale, County Records, and then Independence County for the listing. You can either order by fax or mail - the info for that is linked from the first page. Independence County Cemetery Records of Independence County, Arkansas By Chalman E. The book has been out of print for many years, but is available now from Arkansas Research. There are 16,000 entries in this book. The field notes for each cemetery were transcribed just as they were inventoried in an effort to preserve family groupings. This book contains a surname index, maps of the townships, and an appendix with cemetery notes which include alternate names. This is a valuable resource for Independence County.
