Posted on: Independence Co. Ar Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Ar/Independence/10084 Surname: BROOKS, BAILEY, CARPENTER ------------------------- Hello: My great-grandparents, H. A. BROOKS (male) and A. J. BROOKS nee BAILEY (female), were living in Talladega County, Alabama in 1880. They moved to Arkansas and were living in Bryant, Arkansas in 1897. I understand that Bryant is located partly in Independence County, Arkansas, and partly in Saline County, Arkansas. What were their first/given names? Birthdates? What were their parents names? Where were their parents from? Did they have siblings? What were their siblings names? H. A. BROOKS and A. J. BROOKS nee BAILEY were the parents of: Luther, Willis, Albert, Nora, "Dink" and Dora (twin) BROOKS, and lived in Bryant, Arkansas. Their daughter Dora BROOKS married Morton Travis Carpenter 05 July 1897. I've been told that H. A. BROOKS operated a sawmill in the Bryant, Arkansas area. Either H. A. BROOKS, or A. J. BAILEY, his wife, may have been of Cherokee Indian descent. Are there still relatives in the area? Are there any connections out there? If so, please contact me, Janet A. Nelson, at: [email protected] Thank you.

Do you have a John Martine in your line who married Amanda Dunkin? They both are buried in Eutopia Cem., in Sharp Co. Amanda Dunkin Martine was my grandmother sister. Myrvin G. (Lassiter) Harris
Some martin's from that area moved to Kaufman County Texas, but these names did not fit. Jimmy Tidwell P O Box 2143 Lindale,Texas,75771 903-858-3012 Home 903-858-2727 Fax 903-530-4397 Cell
Family rumor has it they moved around the Rio Grande Valley, which Willacy County would fit. They are the only two of that generation that I know came to Texas. This was around 1926 or 1927. I have not found them buried there either, so between 1927 and 1944 they may have been in another county down there. George W. Martin, Sr.'s children are Mahalia J. Martin b. about 1877 married John Parks. William A. Martin b. about 1879 married Maude Beel George W. Martin b. in 1881 married Rose McAllister Allen G. Martin b. in 1883 married Mayme Hayes Alfred M. Martin b. in 1884 married Rebecca Choat. William went to California, Alfred came to Texas. The rest stayed in Independence Co., Arkansas. George and Rose are my grandparents. Only two of George, Jr's children came to Texas they are my mother Chloe who came in 1946 and settled in Colleyville, Tarrant, TX , where I was raised. April 15, 1909 Obituary. Zadock Phillips was born in Athens county, Ohio, on Jan. 30th, 1813, he fell asleep in Jesus on the 31st day of March, 1908. He was 96 years, 2 months and one day old. He was married to Phoebe Brown in Morgan county, Ohio on the 23rd day of May, 1835. He has been a follower of Christ for about sixty years. He moved to Missouri in 1860 and lived here ever since, with the exception of three years which he spent in Arkansas. Five children were born to the union of him and the beloved Phoebe Brown, his wife, who preceded him in death some twelve years ago. Three of their children lived to be grown, but only one of them is living now, which is Sister Catherine Ellison, wife of James Ellison. There is eighteen grandchildren and quite a number of great-grandchildren. Brother Phillips was laid to rest in the Daily cemetery to await the coming of our Glorified Redeemer and Savior, who will then awaken him out of his sleep to a new life, not only him but all that are asleep. The funeral services were held at the home of his daughter, text, 1st Cor. 15, 35-38. Services were conducted by E.H. Yeisley.
God bless you This is the greatest gift I have ever received. Never thought I would find this. Bless You Bobbie and Pauline Taylor
