Thanks, Vicki, I checked several records. Found 46 Enoch Andersons but no match. It may be difficult to find hard data if he traveled a lot, such as following rodeos. I first thought that Enoch was an Indian name, but, not so. It is Hebrew biblical. In the Bible, Enoch was the father of Methuselah. That suggests UK origin instead of Sweden or Germany. Will keep looking. Thank you for your quick response.Know what you mean about not existing. The marriage record of Enoch and Martha are so far the only proof that I have that he really did exist and I got that only last year after 7 years of looking. He was supposedly a rodeo rider and was killed when he was thrown off of a horse...go figure. Some day I will find him ( I hope) Good luck on your trip to Arkansas..I am only about 3 hrs from Arkansas but havent made it there yet.atleast not to Lawrence Co. Again good luck and keep my Enoch in mind. I would be glad to reimburse you for any information you might just happen to stumble across Vicki Halton ----- Original Message ----- From: Elmer T. Vicki, Thanks for your response. Don't think Enoch is a part of my Anderson family. But, at this point, I'm not ruling out anything. Have had great luck tracing most family names back to the 1700's and, for most, to a specific location in England or Germany. John Anderson is the exception. Arkansas has no birth or death record for him. It is almost like he never existed. Have an old family bible record that lists him as having lived in Cord, AR. Also, he had siblings. I believe it was two brothers and a sister. Will dig out those records. Do not have their names now. Will be visiting AR next week and will pick up all remaining records from my parents. They are in their late 80's but still alive and well. Thanks. I am looking for the parents of David S. ANDERSON. b. Dec. 24, 1833, d. Dec 27, 1891. Married: Margaret Elizabeth CORBETT, date unknown, possibly in AR. They are buried in Hopewell Cemetery, Independence County, AR. They had nine children, one being my grandfather J. Anderson WILSON. I believe Margaret Elizabeth CORBETT may have been half Choctaw Indian. Does any of this ring a bell with Enoch or John Washington ANDERSON? Thanks. Ray Wilson

Would appreciate help finding any information about my g grandfather, John Washington Anderson. Born 1854, died either 1927 or 1930. Last place of residence was believed to be Cord, Independence Co. Could have be Alicia, Lawrence Co. John's parents lived in Cord and he also had two brothers that lived there. Little Rock has no official death certificate. John married Ellen C. Thornton on July 27, 1879. Had 7 children. Lived most of married life in Randolph Co. near Birdell / Imboden. Separated early 1900's and moved to Cord. Have complete records for Ellen but can find nothing about John. Would also appreciate names of cemeteries in or near Cord. Will be visiting AR next week and hope to find his grave. Thanks. Elmer T. Anderson

Still trying to locate information on John Grover Lewis, Dora Alice (Mosely) Lewis of Craighead County. In 1918, they lived in Batesville, had a son, Aubrey C. Lewis, and several other children. We don't know birthdates, dates of death, or where they are buried, although they may be buried in the Memorial Cemetary in Monette. Would like to find out the names of John and Alice's parents and children. Also trying to locate info on Clarence Rhodes of the Black Oak, Caraway area. I know that Clarence was born January of 1900, died July 1967 and is buried in the Caraway Cemetary. Thanks to eveyone who helped me find that information!! Georgiana

Posted on: Independence Co. Ar Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Ar/Independence/10107 Surname: Covey ------------------------- This is great!!!! First off, I was born and raised in Memphis, Tn. At the present, I'm living in Spokane, Wa. Been in this area since 1984. What kind of info do you have on Jesse? Several years ago, I was intouched with a lady from New Mexico, if I remember right, her name was Joyce Jojola (something like that, I don't have my info with me), anyway, she swore her line was part of mind. But, things pointed to another line, I'm still not sure. I've probably confused you, so let me try and go into more detail. First of all, the name "Levin"s very common in my direct line. The area in Ark. is the same area my family went into. Names in Jesse's family, all common in my line. Taking all that, one would say, okay, part of family. Let's go back some, I have two sets of Coveys in Tn. around 1790-1803. Samuel Covey and family came from Va. and settled in Knox and Jefferson Co., Tn. around 1815, several of Samuel's kids went into Franklin and Bedford Co., Tn. Around 1803, William Covey of Guilford Co., NC along with most of his kids went into Maury Co., Tn., later into Hardin Co., Tn. At the the time, Bedford and Maury Co., were side-by-side, today Marshall Co., seperates the two. I've always believed the two families were related, but the only connection I've found is through my Edwards and Campbell lines. Around 1830 most of Samuels' line started moving out of Tn. The ones that went into Ark., settled up around Benton Co. William's family (my direct line), didn't start leaving until the 1850s. Some of the ones that went into Ark. settled around Hot Springs. Around 1866, my grt-grt-grd-father, Levin "Green" Wesley Covey, went to Jackson Co., Ark. by 1870 was in Lawrence Co., there were also more family in the Walnut Ridge area. Here's where things star getting bad. According to the 1830 Tn.census Jesse and brother, Abner were in Franklin Co.,Tn. The only other Coveys in that county, were from Samuel's line. In 1840Jesse and family was in Noxubee Co., Ms. In the next county, Harrison Covey is found. Harrison is part of William's line. By 1860, Jesse, Harrison and a Nelson Covey, were all in Sevier Co., Ark. Nelson was a brother to Harrison. After Jesse died, from what I can tell, all the boys went into Jackson Co., Ark. Another thing that is a "small" puzzle, when the war broke out, Samuel's line that with the north, William's fought for the south. I know that's really nothing. But, still???? At any rate, I do have some info on Levin "Live" H. Covey and family, infact, some of the family lives up here, more toward the west coast. If you like, willing to share what I have. You're more than welcome to come by. E-mail me direct; [email protected] Wes

RootsWeb lists are virus-free and you won't receive any viruses through the lists. However, there is a virus going around currently called Bad Trans that can trick you into thinking it is coming from a list. A list subscriber has informed me that at least one subscriber to this list is or was infected by this virus. Here is how it works so that you can recognize it and avoid it. A list subscriber posts a message to the list and the message is then sent out to everyone on that list (no viruses involved). Someone who is a list subscriber is already infected with the virus (their computer is that is). When the list message arrives in that infected person's inbox the virus works by sending a reply to the person whose address is in the FROM line of the message (i.e. the list poster). The Bad Trans virus works in this manner and it tricks the recipient into thinking that the list is involved when it is only the means by which the poster's address arrived on the infected person's computer--the virus never came through the list. The reply with the list message quoted and the attachment with the virus included is then sent to the original poster. That is why so many folks are fooled into opening the attachment. They think it is a legitimate response to their query. Anyone who clicked on the attachment would have gotten a message saying that the file was corrupted but that is the virus sending that message, and seeing that message indicates that your computer *has* been infected with the virus. If you think you might be infected with this virus please obtain updated anti virus software and scan and clean your system. See: http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/announce.html#virus for additional information. Belle
