Thanks to all who replied to my inquiry about WITTER. Actually, I did have the information about the Jahalem on the 1850 census for INDP. My own ggrandfather is Elias Morgan Witter. Census information has him born in AR and that his parents are from IL. Jahalem then could be the father of My Elias (or not). Especially since Elias has a brother named Jahaland.
