    3. Hello members of the ARIA mailing list, currently hosted on Rootsweb/Ancestry servers. My name is Peter and I have been the list administrator of this list since it was abandoned a number of years back. On 7th January 2020, Rootsweb informed all list admins that they will not be providing any mailing list services after 2nd March 2020, except to keep the archives available (see RW email appended below). In other words, all lists will cease to be. If members want to keep this list active, they will need to host it on a new server. A number of such servers exist, such as groups.io, FaceBook, google groups. I personally do not wish to remain the admin of this list, so one of the members will need to step up as a new administrator if they want to keep it alive. As a side comment, I think that many of the smaller lists were created in Rootsweb's heyday, and are probably past reviving. I can't remember when the last post to this list was. If there are any questions, please post them to the list, but do it quickly as time is running out quickly. Cheers Peter ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails.  Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. Sincerely, The RootsWeb team ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    1. [ARIA] Your ARIA mailing list is again operational.

    3. Hello subscribers to the aria mailing list. All Rootsweb mailing lists have been nearly dead for the last two or so years. In February this year, Rootsweb upgraded the software that runs their 30,000 or so mailing lists, and after a few teething problems, the system is now up and running. The archives of past posts are gradually being restored, but this may take months. Subscribers may notice minor differences. The main difference for you is that you can register as a subscriber and then be able to adjust options for how you receive emails (e.g. single posts or digests in plain or MIME format, halt mail while on holidays and a few more things). Or you can just leave things as they are. As a reminder, this mailing list is for Australians and New Zealanders who are researching their Italian Heritage, Culture and Ancestry. For questions about the operation of this list, please contact the list administrator at      aria-owner@rootsweb.com To post to this list or respond to a post, use the email address      aria@rootsweb.com Your list is back up so if you want to keep it active and ongoing, please post your queries or information to the list. 1. [ARIA] RAMSPOTT Genealogy
    2. Bernd Krause
    3. Hello to everyone, I am from Germany and I am researching the RAMSPOTT family, which actually have their roots in Germany, esp. the region of Sauerland (North-Rhine-Westfalia and Hessia). Some of them left for Australia, some others probably also came to Australia, but I am not sure about that, or in some cases my information does not suffice. My question to you is: Can you tell me about the following person anything I do not know yet? Francesco RAMSPOTT born April 16th 1924, maybe in Italy probably came to Canverra, Australia between 1952 and 1965 I am not sure, if he really is from Italy or if he only is a sailor listed as passenge. Thank you so far Bernd Krause www.geschichtswissenschaften.com

    3. Subject: Leeton court case - trying to find an Italian father Can anyone point me in the right direction and if the likelihood of finding my Nana's father in the following scenario is feasible? Case: The family rumour is that there was a court case between a Miss Ruby Violet Campton and the alledged Italian father of my Nana with the first name of Anthony or Antonio (Also known as Tony). This is claimed to have happened in or around the town of Leeton NSW and somewhere between the years 1930-1933. The trial was apparently in relation to Ruby claiming Anthony raped her (or something simular) - but in reality this was not so. It is believed he was not charged and went on to have a family of his own to another woman (Presumably of Italian heritage). Ruby would have been 18-20 years of age. Anthony's age is not known.Does anyone know the best way I could go about trying to find this court case and the details of it? I live in Brisbane QLD and travelling to NSW is not on the cards anytime soon. Though is not entirely out of the question forever. I would also be willing to negiotiate doing QLD research for someone who could do NSW research for me. I would like to know the full name of Anthony in this court case (If it did in fact happen) as it is the most likely way of me finding out who my Nana's father as all those who remember his name have since passed on.SincerelyMistymistyserene@hotmail.comThanks, Misty mistyserene@hotmail.com _________________________________________________________________ What are you waiting for? 3. Thank you for that information on arrivals I couldn't find arrival information for my ancestor, Gherado Borserini who lived in Walhalla in Victoria Thanks to a relation I have found out that he went back to villa de torino in Sondria Italy and told his experiences who have written it down in a diary. In Walhalla there were a lot of Italians working around the gold mines at that time. 2. Max Crow
    3. Hi to all on the list, I have had some success at long last with the discovery of : Giacomo DAMIANI born 1762 in Poschiavo, Graubunden, Switzerland. his son Lorenzo Damiani born 1797 as above. his son's wife Margarita Crameri born 1802 as above. they married 1822 as above. Then they moved to "Who knows where" and my twig of the branch was born !! namely, Antonio Damiani born 1840 at Villa in the State of Lombardy in the Kingdom of Italy. This is the only clue! I can find "Poschiavo" no problems, but "Villa" is so elusive as there are so many to choose from. Is there anybody else out there who recognizes the above branch of the tree? Crameri is a very common name in Poschiavo. Damiani less so. The long lost hunter! Max CROW.

    3. I would like to contact Sandra Stanton or Russell White who posted messages in 2000 and 2003, respectively, regarding Stephano Powseitch aka Stefano Haskitt or Haskitt aka John Stanton, an Italian who arrived in NSW in 1813 as a convict from England. I have tried e-mailing, but neither of their addresses are current and I do not have sufficient information to locate them any other way. Hoping one of you may still subscribe to this list and will respond to this message. I am descended from John/Stephano's daughter Hannah and am also interested in hearing from anyone else researching this gentleman or his descendants. I have digital photographs of John and Mary Stanton's headstone that I am happy to share. Many thanks Vanessa Cassin Baulkham Hills, NSW, Australia
