We recently received a grant from the Arkansas Humanities Council and the National Endowment for the Humanities titled "A Searchable Database of all Schools since Arkansas Statehood in 1836 in Twelve SW Arkansas Counties." Those counties are Columbia, Hempstead, Howard, Lafayette, Little River, Miller, Nevada, Ouachita, Pike, Polk, Sevier, and Union. Go to our website, www.southwestarchives.com and click School Project to see the names of schools from GNIS (National Geological Survey) in those counties. We already have many more schools to add to the list. If you have any information about a school that you could share with us, please write to me at friley@southwestarchives.com.
