I was on Crowley's Ridge a few days ago, I went to Paragould for the holidays. My uncle and cousins live on Crowley's Ridge. If I were to move back to the area, I would live on Crowley's Ridge. If I remember correctly, the ridge was named for Benjamin Crowley, an early settler. Crowley's Ridge Academy, a Christian college, and Crowley's Ridge [Walcott] State Park are nearby my uncle. The Park is 15 miles N of Jonesboro and 9 miles W of Paragould. I can't find my map with the gealogical features, but I believe this is about the head of the ridge, it runs south for quite a ways. My uncle told me something interesting about the ridge, he said in the ice ages, the ridge was a river bank, that the Ohio River ran down the west side of the ridge and the Mississippi River ran down the east side and that the ridge is a gravel bank. P.S. The Greene County Library has a wonderful genealogical library, staffed with very helpful volunteers.
