There is a Paragould city directory of 1920, but then the next city directory wasn't published until 1939. This large gap won't be filled, at least partially, until the 1930 U.S. census is published in April 2002. As a substitute, couldn't someone find copies of the Paragould telephone directories from those years, published by Southern Bell, and scan the pages with optical character recognition software, or just as bitmapped images? Paragould being a small city, the directories probably were not large. If the public library doesn't have these old directories, perhaps the local telephone company does in their archives. Ideally, we would eventually have the 1920 city directory and 1920 U.S. census, a 1925 telephone directory, the 1930 U.S. census, a 1935 telephone directory, and the 1939 city directory. -Steve
