    3. The following was posted by Verna Mikulencak <cluckquack@aol.com> on Thu, 17 Feb 2000 on the Greene County GenConnect Query Forum: - -------------------------------------------------------------------- Surname: Ferguson, Baker, Forbis, Roe, Cole, Rowland Am searching for information on my grand-father/ggrandfather/grandmother/ggrandmother. My ggrandfather, Asbury A. Ferguson owned a Boarding House with a partner, Albert Rowland, in Main Shore Township, Greene Co., Ark. about 1900. His son, George F., resided with him on the 1900 Greene Co., Tenn. census. A cook, Susie and two other boarders were also listed:Annie Dethumas and Ferrel Lamb. I cannot locate Asbery before or after this 1900 census. A recent query I posted offered the possibility that Asbury's parents were Barnet and Mariah Ferguson of Gibson Co.,Tn and they appear on an 1850 census there with an Asbury as a child. Also listed as siblings of Asbury are on 1850 census: Thomas, age 22, Frank, age 18, Manerva, age 15, Lavan, age 13, Elizabeth, age 7, Dallas, age 5. Dallas' first name was Aaron. Have research the 1860 Gibson Co., Tn census and the 1840 Gibson Co. census and cannot find Barnet, Mariah Ferguson family at all. Would appreciate any assistance whatsoever. I am also trying to ascertain information on an aunt, Lucille Ferguson (Roe), (Cole). Lucille resided in the Paragound/Jonesboro, Ark. area in the 1940-1960's. She was first married to a Tom Roe and they resided in Paragould/Jonesboro. Lucille later remarried to a Fred Cole and they owned a photography shop in Jonesboro and lived above it, I think. I do not believe Lucille had children of her own, but her spouses may have had children by previous marriages. Lucille and Fred Cole also owned a lake cottage not far from Jonesboro, Ark. Lucille's siblings, all born near Bard/Paragould,Ark.were:My mother, Betty Ferguson Flowers/Blytheville,Ark., Sadie Ferguson Ozment/Halls, Tenn., Imogene Ferguson Miller/Illinois and a baby brother, Al Y. who died in childhood in the Paragould/ Jonesboro/Monette/Manila area of spinal meningitis. Lucille's parents were George F. Ferguson and Laura Smithy Baker Ferguson who resided in Lake Township, Paragould area in 1920. Am also seeking information on the Frank Forbis family in Paragould,Ark. The Baker's I seek information on were from Crockett Co., TN, near Halls and moved to the Paragould area: Isaac "Ike" Newton Baker, listed on Greene Co. 1910 Census with spouse,Mary, and stepson, Frank Forbis; James Baker, Ike's brother, also resided in the area around that time. Ike went to church at the Alexander Church near Bard. The area my mother Betty was born at near Bard, Arkansas was supposedly called "Panther Island."Can anyone tell me exactly where that is and whether any books or stories have been published about the area. Have information on the Ferguson/Baker family I will gladly share and will greatly appreciate any help with the above..
