I am looking for information on my maternal great grandfather. I am posting the following information from the 1860 census and think it may be my family. I am looking at Williams Pitts age 25, living in the N W Pitts household. He married Ann E. Wilson born in 1870 in AR. He was listed in the 1880 census as Lee Pitts in Red River County, Texas. My mother said he name was William Lee Pitts. I am looking for the burial site of a grand uncle. What I know is Hugh Nelson Boykin arrived in Greene Co, about 1890. He had two siblings; John Burwell Boykin and Leila Marie Byers of Gainesville. He married first Sarah Elizabeth Smothers 3 Sept 1891 in Paragould. They had 3 children Agnes, John and Rubie. First wife died before 1904. I can't find her burial site. Hugh next married the widow Sarah D. Beauchamp Swank Feb 1904 in Paragould. I don't know when or where she died. The family is listed in the 1900 Census Clarke TWP, line 24/26 1910 census; page 118, Paragould, Ward 2. His daughter Agnes married James Edward Daniel June 1913 in Paragould. Son John moved to Batesville and died there in 1968. Hugh's brother John was the attorney that helped Paragould incorporate and become the county seat. John is buried in Lindwood Cemetery. I would like to find the burial sites of Hugh Nelson Boykin and his wives. Any help will be appreciated.

I am in a similar boat. ALl the transcribed records in Greene County dont seem to help find the location of my great-grandmothers burial. We figure she died in about 1908-1910 and her people and husband are buried at clarks chapel, but there is no records from that time that indicate what went with her. Tinny Winn Boyd (Tennessee Winn) 1st Wife of Elmer Cleveland Boyd of Paragould. Mother of Earl, Ernest and Elsie. (Elsie also passed before 1910) She had previously been married in Craighead county to L.L. McEwan. but the very next year married Elmer in Paragould. Not sure what that is about either. W. I apologize for not responding sooner to your query. I'm sure you know Arkansas did not begin keeping death records until 1914 and even they were/are few and far between until 1920 at least. However, we do have an 1890 census from Tax records of Greene County. They are entered by school districts. Are there any experienced genealogists in Greene County who could help with a little research of a death and burial in 1914? I’m willing to pay for what should be a couple of hours of research. Email me off list. Carey Rogers [email protected]
