Your hard work is really appreciated. It is my favorite web site and I'm always finding something new. Since you asked about the backgrounds, I also vote for the plain/light background, due to my eyes. I have had some problems using the copy/paste function with some of the dark patterns. Do you know how/where I can get information on the tax rolls? I am researching John L (may be Larimore) Fielder, Zachariah Taylor Bartlett and John Preston McKinney. FOR JOHN PRESTON MCKINNEY - I have the Land Record for a John P McKinney and need to verify that this is the correct person. It shows he received the land as the only heir at law of Joshua McKinney" and references Warrant numbered 26.611 - a certain Tract of Land, containing one hundred and sixty acres, being the South East Quarter of Section Thirty Six of Township Nine (?) North in Range Eight, West. Even the official documents are hard to read! This document shows John as the nephew of Joshua and is the only reference I have to any of his relatives. John's wife was Fannie Thomson. She died and he was also married to J. N Bonner and Jennie Lee. Look forward to the marriage records being online as I need copies of the information. I have a copy of an old photo showing John with his three sons - John Virgil, Lee N. and Samuel David (my grandfather) and his stepson Edgar Lee - standing in front of the old house. I have no information on his parents or siblings. Nancy

    3. Hello, Tina. Adding the marriage records to the site will be of great benefit to all of us with Greene County roots. Your hard work is appreciated. Since you asked about the backgrounds, I confess that the backgrounds are very distracting and, in some instances, they make the page almost unreadable. I don't spend much time looking at them because my old eyes just can't tolerate the dark colors and busy patterns. I would much prefer plain white or other light colors. I understand your desire to make the pages pretty but it's the information that is important, and the easier it is to read, the more useful the pages will be. I have noticed that you and your niece have been very busy of late adding new information and you are to be commended for your persistence. Thank you. Debra Please if anyone cannot see the hard work we have > done = > > > because of the backgrounds , fonts or colorblind, or there system > please = > > > let us know. 1. Marriage Records Donated
    2. Tina: Here's another cheering section. You and your niece have done a great job and are to be commended for all of your hard work and efforts. Particularly under some adverse circumstances at times. I do have a couple of suggestions, however. I find the color scheme you have used just fine. However: 1) The intro page is totally unnecessary. The info there could well be incorporated on the main page for the website. 2) There is a lot of wasted space on the pages because of the font size, large graphic size in some of the pictures, unnecessary spacing between line, etc. Each page could be condensed without losing the artistic effects. 3) Graphic size - this is a real aggravation for many people. The larger the graphic size, the longer it take a page to load (not just yours). Your Welcome banner and little girls in the heart could be very much reduced without losing the effect. Reductions of this type would also allow you to put more info on each page and therefore use less pages overall. You are off to a great start and so many people will benefit from what you are doing. Please keep up the good work. Gloria raglady@aol.com

    1. James Ellis
    2. I am looking for data regarding James Ellis. He was an AR State Senator from 1851 to 1854 representing Randolph and Greene Counties. He was married to Nancy Baker and had two daughters; Nancy Jane and Martha E. James Ellis is listed in the Greene Co 1840 census. James had a sister Jane Mitchel/Michel in Greene Co listed in the 1860 Greene Co census 453/443 Union Twp. My questions are; When did he die? Where is he buried? When was he born? Where was he born? I wrote to the AR Secretary of State and all they could tell me is that he served. Would you mind looking in the 1850 and 1860 census also? James had property in Greene Co in 1850 that later became part of Clay Co. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. Phil Di Matteo

    1. Hannan or Hannum
    2. I need some help here, I'm trying to locate more information on my husband's great-grandmother Maggie Tubbs. Maggie Tubbs was Maggie Hannum or Hannan (it looks like Hannum on her marriage record and also on her death certificate. We thought we found her in the 1900 census record for Greene County and she lived with her father Patrick Hannan from Ireland it shows Maagie at the age of 15 at this time. On her death certificate it listed her father as Richard Hannum. So I'm not sure how to research this now because I have found a Richard Hannan in Jackson County Arkansas in 1880 but Maggie was born in 1885 so she wouldn't have been listed with this family. Maggie married in 1902 to Don Tubbs in Grubbs, Arkansas (Jackson County). I'm not sure if Patrick could be here dad since I did find a Maggie in the Census and I can't rule out Richard Hannan or Hannum, not sure. Greene County and Jackson are neighboring counties, what should I do. Does anyone have any suggestions. I have tried to get an obituary for Maggie and have had no luck. Carol - KC

    3. Hello, Carey. Magnolia (Maggie) Rowe was the daughter of Jacob Rowe and Alice A.E. Winn. I have little on the Rowe family but can help you out with the Winns. Alice, Maggie's mother, was the daughter of Samuel C. Winn and Catherine Jane Carlton Winn. Samuel and "Cassie" arrived in Greene County sometime between 1870 and 1880, from Carroll County, TN, where Samuel had been a farmer and a teacher. Samuel was a brother of Minor M. Winn, my great-great-grandfather. Tragically, the Winn Cemetery was vandalized to the point that no stones remain, although a monument has been erected (thanks to the Greene County Historical and Genealogical Society) listing those thought to be buried there. If you want more information about the Winn Family, let me know. I have a good file on them dating back to John Winn, b. 1796-97 SC, Maggie Rowe's great-grandfather.
