    3. Hello Emma, It was nice to read your email. My father went to school and lived in Bard, then later on moved into Paragould since the Dr said they needed to get my Aunt off the farm because of her allergies. My father used to tell me stories frequently about living and growing up in Arkansas, his name was Robert McClain, his mother was an Agee. If you find that picture I would love to see it. 3. I just joined this list and would like some help. I started school in 1936 in Bard. It was a 2 room school (I think), a large building and seems like we had to climb steps to get inside. Does anyone have a picture of that school? Bard is about 6 miles east of Paragould, just a small community. I talked to the family that lived on the school location in 1976. They owned the property the school was on. They had torn down the upper portion of the school and built their home on the school's foundation. They didn't have a picture of the school. I am interested in getting a picture of my first school. I went to first grade there, then in 1937 we moved to California. Also, would it be possible that someone has a picture of the Methodist church that was across the road from the school? My dad was a Methodist minister and we lived next door to the church. The house we lived in was still there in 1976 and I have a picture of that. I don't think we lived in Bard more than about 2 years; then Dad resigned and we moved to California. My dad's name was Rev. J.E. Hughes, if anyone remembers him. Thanks for any help. Emma Greer

    2. Wayne & Pam Hargis
    3. Hello, everyone. I went to the state archives today and ran across an item in the Arkansas Gazette that I thought someone might be interested in since I was sure I had seen a post of Adams for a surname. I hope this will help someone. Arkansas Gazette, Friday, December 14, 1855 From Greene County. Hon. Charles W. Adams -- When this gentleman resigned the office of Judge of the Circuit Court, which he had filled in a manner so creditable both to himself and the county, the following resolutions were adopted by the Bar. These proceedings should have been published before this, but they were not received. The delay does not makes the compliment any the less deserving. WHEREAS --- with the close of the present term of this Court, the official labors of Hon. Charles W. Adams, as judge of the First Judicial Circuit of this State, ceases, by virtue of his resignation, which takes effect on the 30th inst. (sic) 1. Be it therefore Resolved by the members of the Bar, That the official conduct and demeanor of Hon. Charles W. Adams, while upon the bench has elicited our admiration and respect. That, in the administration of Justice, he has combined distinguished ability and decision of character, with punctuality and unyielding firmness --- contributing largely to the moral improvement of society. 2. We deeply regret this his Honor has thought proper to retire from the Bench, and thus dissolve an association so agreeable to us, as attorneys, and so important to the community at large; and we most cordially welcome him among us, again, as an associate at the Bar, and hope, in his practice, that he may be fully remunerated for his ample legal learning and ability. 3. That in expressing these opinions, as members of the Bar, we believe we but express the sentiments of the community in general. 4. That a copy of These Resolutions be reported, to the March term of this Circuit Court, with the request that they be spread upon the records of said Court; and that a copy be sent to each of the newspapers at Little Rock, for publication. Unanimously adopted. P .K. Lester, President. L. L. Mack, Secretary. I thought this was very special and gave insight into the character of Charles Adams. Pam Hargis

    3. Tina, The Evans and Hopper names that you sent me do not sound familiar. I have, however, passed your message on the the familiy historians. They will contact you if they find anything in their archives. Good luck. 3. Margie, I'm afraid I can not help you, but passed your message on to the Evan's historian in my line. If he can come up with a connection, he will be in touch with you. Good luck!
