    1. [ARGREENE] Indian Children
    2. Tina Easley
    3. Hi Everyone I want to thank everyone for all the help we are receiving on this. I have talked to the family again because I wanted to make sure they had a lawyer check into it . And make sure it was no Scam and on the up and up. And it is. They( the parents) have to show proof to the Cherokee Nation that they have Indian Heritage something about the Indian Laws . But they have already been to several hearings and they have come to a draw sort of they can still be foster parents of the children but not fully adopt them until they have the proof. So the Indian Council are trying to work with them. And they have got another month before the next hearing . So that is where I came in they have came to a brick wall on their tree. And have never tried tracing their tree before . I know it is hard work it has took me ten years and more to just put a dent in mine . What they have been working on for a couple of months . Also the Western Cherokee Nation in Paragould is also helping to see what they can come up with. So keep the ideas coming maybe we can all pitch in and help. I know now what the Parents are talking about when they say taking them away it is not the Cherokee Nation exactly to blame . By being foster parents you are only allowed to keep the children for a certain amount of time and then there moved to another foster familyso if they don't get to adopted them they will be placed at a later time somewhere else..I guess if I was in there shoes I would be feeling the same way when I wanted to keep the children and didn't want to loose them. I'm sorry I confused anyone it was really confusing and hard for me to understand especially when they are very emotional about it.They have also contacted The Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma but I'm sure this is starting to get expensive and are probally not having a choice about it other than to try to do it theirselves. tina Greene County, Ar. 3. This sounds a bit strange to me. If they can't prove that the children are Indian, how can either side say they are going to wait for an "approved" Indian family to take the children? I like thousands of people have "heard" that I am part Indian. But, after more than ten years of family searching, all I have is one or two other related searchers that have similar stories and no proof or even good leads. You may want to check out this request before you spend too much time on it. ----- Original Message ----- From: Tina Easley <tina@grnco.net> To: <ARGREENE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 15, 2000 8:58 PM Subject: [ARGREENE] Help > A fellow comes up to me at work and tells me his family is needing help. > They have been foster parents of some Indian Children and they have adopted > them by our courts and laws . ****But the Indian (Cherokee) Council I think is > what he told me has informed them that they have to show proof of their > Indian Heritage or they will take the children away and put them back in a > home until a approved Indian family will want them for adoption.****

    3. Hi Everyone I need a big favor if anyone has ideas or anything it is kinda, a long story so I will try my best to explain. A fellow comes up to me at work and tells me his family is needing help. They have been foster parents of some Indian Children and they have adopted them by our courts and laws . But the Indian (Cherokee) Council I think is what he told me has informed them that they have to show proof of their Indian Heritage or they will take the children away and put them back in a home until a approved Indian family will want them for adoption. They have started tracing there family tree trying to find one of the ancestors listed on the Dawes List. They have always been told they had Indian Heritage. But the only proof I understand they will take is that they are listed on the Dawes List .(Or any of the other list showing Indian Heritage ).Below is the Information they have given me to work with . If anyone has any ideas or can help please let me know. They have got a month to come up with proof . I have been trying to research each relative trying to find anything. I have found the Young Surname on the Dawes List. I hope we can work to together and help this family . thank you Tina I won't list the living relatives . 1. [ARGREENE] Something Dear to me
    2. Tina Easley
    3. Hello Everyone This was sent to me by a soldier friend it brought tears to my eyes . I know the holidays are almost upon us and we do have Our American Soldiers to be so thankful to for letting us be safe and with are loved ones . From our families past to our present time.So please don't forget to say thanks for our U.S. Soldiers giving us peace and freedom and most of all being safe here at home with our loved ones. Please read on. tina 'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS, HE LIVED ALL ALONE, IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF PLASTER AND STONE. I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE, AND TO SEE JUST WHO IN THIS HOME DID LIVE. I LOOKED ALL ABOUT, A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE, NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS, NOT EVEN A TREE. NO STOCKINGS BY THE MANTLE, JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND, ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES OF FAR DISTANT LANDS. WITH MEDALS AND BADGES, AWARDS OF ALL KINDS, A SOBER THOUGHT CAME THROUGH MY MIND. FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT, IT WAS DARK AND DREARY, I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER, ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY. THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING, SILENT, ALONE, CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME. THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE, THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER, NOT HOW I PICTURED A UNITED STATES SOLDIER. WAS THIS THE HERO OF WHOM I'D JUST READ? CURLED UP ON A PONCHO, THE FLOOR FOR A BED? I REALIZED THE FAMILIES THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT, OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT. SOON ROUND THE WORLD, THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY, AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY. THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR, BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS, LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE. I COULDN'T HELP WONDER HOW MANY LAY ALONE, ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME. THE VERY THOUGHT BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE, I DROPPED TO MY KNEES AND STARTED TO CRY. THE SOLDIER AWAKENED AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE, "SANTA DON'T CRY, THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE; I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM, I DON'T ASK FOR MORE, MY LIFE IS MY GOD, MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS." THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP, I COULDN'T CONTROL IT, I CONTINUED TO WEEP. I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS, SO SILENT AND STILL AND WE BOTH SHIVERED FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL. I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT, THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR SO WILLING TO FIGHT. THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER, WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE, WHISPERED, "CARRY ON SANTA, IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE." ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH, AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT. "MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND, AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT." This poem was written by a Marine stationed in Okinawa Japan. The following is his request: PLEASE. Would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many people as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to our U.S. service men and women for our being able to celebrate these festivities. Let's try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe. Make people stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves for us. Please, do your small part to plant this small seed. Greene County, Ar.
