I have just been browsing through the Fulton County list's archives. I see all the names and places listed and wonder how many of these were familiar to my ancestors. I grew up in Southwest Missouri and always knew that my grandmother and siblings had been born in Mammoth Springs, Arkansas, but never even knew where it was located or gave it much thought. I developed an interest in genealogy after moving to Colorado. My grandmother's immediate family left Mammoth Springs around 1916. I am curious what Fulton County was like around the turn of the century. Was it a farming community? How did people make their living? Someone once told me that my great great grandfather, William Wright had a place at Many Islands. I have found today that is a recreational area. What was it in the late 1800's and early 1900's? I'm told that William performed marriage ceremonies for family members, was he minister or justice of the peace? My families in Fulton County were the Wrights, Jones, and Kissee families. I know that some of the family was there in the 1880's and on. I'm curious what was the attraction to Fulton County and what was it like. If anyone is willing to share some of the history, I would be very pleased. Thank you, Sherry Quade Granddaughter of Mattie Lillian (Jones) Duckworth Great granddaughter of Frank and Carmen (Wright) Jones Great great granddaughter of William and Cynthia (Kissee) Wright
