If you already know this info, please disregard. Both the Salem Headlight and Mammoth Spring Democrat were microfilmed before 1978. I don't remember exactly when, but the Arkansas Press Association came and took all the old newspapers to date in the 1970's to Little Rock; and then sent most of them back to the news offices in Salem and Mammoth Spring. I don't know how far back the Salem paper went, but since Dale and I worked at the Mammoth office, I know the newspapers went back to the early 1900's. Some were a single half sheet of paper. Also, when the 2 newspapers were consolidated, the bound books and old copies were moved to Salem and I don't know where they went from there, but the office is supposed to keep the bound copies in house for reference. I remember going to a butane gas company in Mammoth Spring in the early 1980s and looking through all the issues of the Mammoth Spring Democrat. I've researched at the State Archives in Little Rock in the 1990s, but I never saw referenced the MSD copies.
