    3. "I need a Census Lookup for Newton Burks. He was born abt 1845 to 1849. He was married to Harriett Grisso in Fulton County, not sure when, and they had one child (Hugh Burks) in 1883. I am trying to establish where and when Newton Burks was born. I thank you in advance." Carmeletta Eidson Carmaletta, I could not find Newton Burks listed anywhere in Fulton County. I could not find him on any US Census, on the Homestead list, or the marriage lists. I did find Harriett Burks in The Pickren Hall Cemetery. I am pretty sure that this is Harriett Grisso Burks as she in buried in a cemetery close to Grisso Property. She is the only Burks that we have listed in the Fulton County Cemetery Book. I also found her in the 1870 Bennetts Bayou Township US Census. Here is the data: Grisso, Sousan 58 Head Monroe 24 Farmer brn Arkansas Harriett 21 Housekeeper brn Arkansas Her Grave has: Harriett Burks 1848-1928 Bennetts Bayou Township borders Baxter County in Arkansas and Ozark County and Howell County in Missouri. Only about 10-12 miles to each of these counties. They might have lived in one of these counties and she returned home later in life, where she is buried. Wish I had more to help you. 3. The GRISSO'S are my husbands cousins! I have an old photograph of one of the two Grisso brothers........need to look to see which one he was. The Grisso brothers left Fulton Co. and went into Indian Territory, after one of them completed his medical Degree at the University of Ark. at Fayetteville (think this was 1880 era, maybe earlier). He opened a drug store in Indian Territory. The Foster family went with them to the territory. I believe he married "Sis" Foster. It's been so many years since I researched these lines and I am not polished on my dates and places like I used to be (had it all memorized back then) Faye in Tx. ----- Original Message ----- From: Genrit <genrit@yahoo.com> To: <ARFULTON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, August 17, 2002 4:09 PM Subject: [ARFULTON] Newton Burks > "I need a Census Lookup for Newton Burks. 3. Faye, Newton Burks was the father of Hugh Burks (my step grandfather). You mentioned having a picture of one of the Grisso Brothers. I think that would be one of the brothers of Harriett (mother of Hugh Burks). Would it be possible to send that picture to me? I would REALLY appreciate it. The Grisso Boy you mentioned who went to Medical School, is probably the one I have heard of that my Grandmother Burks referred to as "old Doc. Grisso" in Seminole, Ok. Thanks, Carmeletta Eidson pineknot@cox.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "thesandys" <thesandys@email.msn.com> To: <ARFULTON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, August 23, 2002 12:47 AM Subject: Re: [ARFULTON] Newton Burks > The GRISSO'S are my husbands cousins!
