    3. Hi Brenda! Pardon me for jumping in, but since Wilma is my mother, maybe I can be forgiven. I know about two John Richardsons - father and son - who lived in Izard County in 1860. They are my great-great-great-grandfather, John Gale Wade 'Yankee John' Richardson, born 1844 in Tennessee (possibly in Bedford County), who married Mary M. J. Dixon, born in Bedford County, Tennessee, the daughter of John 'Breshy' or 'Brushy' Dixon and the granddaughter of Matthew Dixon who led his family to Izard County from Tennessee in the late 1840's or early 1850s. Yankee John was the Izard County Coroner in 1868-1872, but decamped to Missouri when the Arkansas government came back under control of the Democrats instead of the Republicans. Yankee John's father was John G. Richardson, born 26 Jan 1820 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. His wife and the mother of his children was Sarah Matthew whom he married on 21 Nov 1839. John the Elder was known to be living in Izard County in 1860 since he and children were listed in the census. However, his wife Sarah was not listed in that census. I can account for Yankee John's three marriages, but I know nothing of the birth or death date of his mother. So I suppose that it is possible that his mother died sometime after 1856 when her youngest child was born and before 1860, and that John Richardson, the elder could have married Lucinda Dunham as a second wife. However, such a marriage would be sheer speculation on my part. To confuse the issue a bit more, I know of an entirely different Richardson family that arrived in Izard County before the WBTS. I believe that a William S. Richardson is written up in Goodspeed. I don't recall any John Richardson mentioned in that write-up, but it's a common enough name. -- Robert W.
