Gene, I very much appreciate your offer. I would be interested any enlightenment on our family mystery if you can help. Do you have any thing on: Melinda A. or C. Boles (or Finley or Clay). buried at Union Cemetery? Her stone seems to have disappeared. The small stone was hand carved by her son, David Henry Boles. Family I have spoken to have seen the stone in the past. They can't recall exactly what was on the stone. Most think it was "Melinda" followed with either a single inital, "A" or "C". They don't recall any last name being carved on the stone. Chances are the grave has no connection to surrounding graves, as I am told she was visiting family, suddenly became ill and died about 1920. I assume Union was the nearest cemetery. The story goes that she was abandoned with 3 sons by her husband, William Henry "Bill" Boles. (Bill is our family 'bad boy' for that reason.) Later, she is listed on census (1910 I think) living with son, Wm. Joseph Boles, as Melinda "Finley". She could have re-married or reverted to her maiden name. No body has a clue. I did find a Melinda Clay m. Henry Boles in MO, but the dates rally seem to far off to be her. Census did list MO as birth state and "C" (if that is really the letter on the stone) could be for Clay. Melinda was said to be full Indian. If I can confirm a maiden name for her, that will help the search in MO. Finley and Clay haven't given any positive leads so far. Below is chart starting with my ggp that could be helpful. Their home was on or the near the Fulton-Izard County lines around Day AR. Much of the surrounding area is now considered Horseshoe Bend. Aug 1883 d.1961 (d/o Charles “Henry” Bookout + Margaret Persany (sp?) *2nd husband of Sarah Ann Bookout: + Mr. ? Tucker 2. Cleveland Greenberry Boles b. 1884 + Josie ?
