A Newton Jasper COMSTOCK, who m. Malinda SMITH and I think they are burried in a Cem that is now on the grounds of Ft Smith army base in AR. Malinda was a sis to my ggm. and our family tradition says Newton Jasper was a grandson of old Ben Comstock who came to MO & AR from KY. Newton Jasper would be in the same generation as William who m. Deliah. (could be Bro or Cousin) This is just to be of any possible help. I am not researching Comstocks. Hi Dora, Could you give us a marriage date and place for your Newton Jasper Comstock and Malinda Smith? Ripley Co. MO marriage record lists three Comstock marriages: William Cumpstock (Comstock?) m. Delila Carter 10 Mar 1836 Thomas Cumstock (Comstock?) m. Polly Carter 15 Jan 1837 John Smith married Polly Cumstock (Comstock ?) 12 Jan 1840. We have thought that these Comstock names must be related. William Comstock and John Smith are listed in Ripley Co 1840 Census. Shannon Co. MO was created out of Ripley Co in 1840 and in 1850 Shannon Co. Census William Comstock's wife Delilah is married to David Alley and 3 Comstock children are listed in the Alley household. With the mention of Newton Jasper Comstock and Malinda Smith, we wonder if Malinda Smith might be related to John Smith. Also Newton J. is a name which is repeated in William's son Jonathan's family. We will look for a relationship. Anything more about Newton Jasper Comstock or Malinda Smith would be appreciated.
