I didn't know which was wrong. I have found other tombstones to be incorrect as well. Know I have a bigger question. John W. Sexton's stone says he was born in June of 1900 and not 1899. Does anyone know what time of year the census was taken? Is it possible that John was born in 1900 or is his stone incorrect as well? Oscar is listed as 21 in the 1910 census in April and 32 in the 1920 census in January. I'd say the year on the tombstone is wrong. Just because it's etched in stone doesn't make it right. The 1900 census was taken in June. > 1900 Fulton Co., AR -- Cleveland Twp. -- 15 Jun 1900 -- p. 254 John W. was listed as 11 months old, so I'd say 1899 is correct. The 1910 census was taken in April and May. The 1920 in January although in some cases it extended into February and even March. The 1930 was taken in April/May. Other years varied as well.
