    3. I am applying for membership in D.A.R. and need proof of death of gggrandfather William Robert HINER, died Fulton twp, Fulton Co, AR in 1910. Surviving Wife was Rettia CASEY who is found in 1920 Census, Fulton Co. First wife Margaret WILLIFORD died Fulton County 26 May 1891. Every time I try to get this information on the internet, I am advised that (1) the Fulton County Courthouse burned and destroyed the records and (2) death records were not kept before 1914. Would a 500-mile drive to Salem, AR be fruitful in verifying a 1910 death, in particular, and these other deaths, in general? According to a cemetery USGenWeb Project in Fulton County, there is a "Hiner" cemetery with less than 20 graves, and I have no knowledge of who is buried at such cemetery, which has not been inventoried. If I must drive from Dallas, Texas to Salem, Arkansas, I will check out this cemetery and try to obtain names of those buried there. Can anyone give me some guidance with my queries?

    3. I have the book of Cemeteries of Fulton County and it shows in the Viola Cemetery a Rev. W. D. Hiney buried there in grave 84N18. Also a Matcet Hiner in grave 84N19. If you will write to me privately, I will give you an address of my cousin who lives in Viola who could give answers to your questions about the baptist church. I live in Tulsa, OK. 3. I'm not sure a trip to Salem would help you out. Of course you would get to see and enjoy our beautiful AR and you never know what might show up. The courthouse did burn in the late 1880's and no birth or death records were kept until 1914 and not all were kept even after that. If the DR didn't fill out the forms, most of the time, the record was not recorded. You best bet might be the AR History Comm. in Little Rock. There might be a obit from a local newspaper. If he lived at Viola, at his death in 1910, that could either be Salem or Mt. Home or could be some newspaper up in MO, Like West Plains. Viola is just south of the MO- AR line. You might find a copy of the newspaper on rolodex. I think the AR. History Comm. has copies of all that were copied. The newspaper at Salem does have some of their old papers, just not sure how far back. It is call The News now.
