Hi T.F., Your McCarty connections sound interesting and we would like to hear about them. We think that the McCarty families in Fulton Co., Ozark Co. MO and Howell Co. are all connected. Two McCarty's, William and Nicholas were in the area in 1840 and 1850 but we have been unable get our Larkin McCarty attached to either. Larkin McCarty b. c. 1829 was listed in the 1850 Fulton Co. Bennetts Bayou twp in the household of Ruther McCarty. (Ruther McCarty is Ruth Ann McCarty Barker Shrable) Larkin is listed in the 1860 Ozark Co. MO Falling Springs twp. married to Malinda (Marriott) and 4 children including my g-grandfather William C. McCarty. Malinda Marriott is the dau of the Marriott family which lived in the "Ott" area, and according to the article by Pauline Hodges in the Fulton Co. Chronicle, The Marriotts sold land which became the first Ott Post office in 1909. In Pauline's article about OTT, she lists school teachers, and then says: "Some of the teachers boarded with Jim and Nannie (Campbell) Barrett, known as Uncle Jim and Aunt Nannie. Uncle Jim helped around the school and when it snowed in the winter, he would hitch his horses to his homemade sled and deliver all the school children to their homes" This article lists Nannie's maiden name, which may help. We can scan the article about OTT from the Fulton Co. Chronicle, if you can't get a copy. Jim and Wanda
Go to Yahoo Maps and type in Ott, Arkansas. It puts it in Fulton County right on the Missouri line. More detail if you can get hold of Fulton Co Chronicles, Vol 1, Summer 1983, No 2. Some names are mentioned that you would find interesting. Morn-in List Hope all of your holidays were as good as ours. Had every one of our off spring here at one time. Now they have all made it back safely to place's from Mass., Pa., Idaho and Cal.. Sure is still around here now with just the better half Judy, and me here. Starting to stick my nose in this tree thing again and get back to that morn-in coffee with Cuz June. Look out. :-) . Can some one get me on the right track. Was getting back up info in our tree and found that in the Survey Of Izard County, Arkansas Cemeteries compiled by Carroll Hayden it has: Montgomery, Cecil ( Son of Palmer and Francis Montgomery ) 17 September 1857 - 19 July 1922. In Mount Nebo Cemetery. We have 1910 - 1911 for Cecil in our tree. The next entry in Carroll's book is for Montgomery, Tiltha C ( Wife of J. P. Montgomery ) 17 September 1857 - 19 July 1922 in Mount Nebo Cemetery. We have the same date and place for Tiltha. Odd that they would be the same dates. Maybe when Carroll was typing a line was missed ??? :-\ You all have a good one and thanks JIM and Judy ( Shuck ) Montgomery JIM M.

Miss Burnice Lawyers, married: Sep 27, 19813, to J.T. Rogers. Hi Volamae, We're glad that this helped. 1900 Fulton Co.census shows Septhen D. Lawyer and Anie B. m. 9 years which would have been about 1891. The 1910 Fulton Co. census shows Douglas L Lawyer and Mary S. married 20 years which would have been 1890. I think Fulton Co. marriages started about 1889 so you might find them. Perhaps someone who has the marriage records can help. We enjoyed the "search". Perhaps the Annie you are looking for is the 2nd wife of Steven or Stephen or Sephen. We also noted that Douglas Lawyer in Fulton Co. 1910 census was born IL with father b. OH and mother b. Hi Palma B, We couldn't find anything to match your Douglas Lee Lawyer in AR in Fulton Co AR 1870, 1880 or 1900 census. Could the last name be misspelled. In a number of locations that were indexed as Lawyer, we found the handwritten version to look more like Sawyer, even by comparison to other 'L's and 'S's. We found in Carroll Co. AR, 1900: Sawyer Duglas 1864 35 m 14 yrs IL NC KY Mary C.A. 1864 35 m 14 yrs 6/6 MO Germany MO Sarah L. dau 1887 13 IL IL MO Ona A dau 1888 11 IL IL MO Palma B. dau 1890 9 IL IL MO Fredrick N son 1893 7 WA IL MO George L son 1895 4 WA IL MO Irene K son 1897 3 WA IL MO ***** yes it says 'son' and 'male'. spelling of Irene is clear. Can you give us the wife of Douglas Lee Lawyer (Sawyer) or any children? Where did Douglas live after Fulton Co.? Sometimes families moved to the same place.
