I am looking for Jefferson White and family. He was living with his wifes parents I believe at that time. Hirum Turner is the name of the family. I am not sure if they lived in Fulton or Izard that year. The White family have been listed Union Township Fulton Co. since 186o. The Turners since 1850. Can anyone confirm this for me? 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VV.2ADE/461.1 Message Board Post: The Mormon chyurch microfilmed the Fulton Co. marriages from 1887 to 1925. Any marriage records for earlier marriages would have to come from the county clerk's office in Salem, and I understand they deem the documents too fragile to allow the public to examine them -- if they are even available. I'm not sure, but Fulton County might be one of the "burned" counties - i.e. courthouse burned during the Civil War.

    3. Hi Ruth, My son and I found Shiloh Cemetery on our second try, after stopping to ask local people how to get there. My great grandparents, William Elijah and Narcissus Caroline Spiller are buried there. My Fulton County Cemetery book does not give their first names. The graves are located at 70B2 and 70B3. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ruth Ann Davis" <radavis@nehp.net> To: <ARFULTON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, June 01, 2005 9:49 PM Subject: RE: [ARFULTON] Shiloh Cemetery > Betty, I don't know who keeps this cemetery up but it is very far back > in the country. 3. URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT The 28th ANNUAL REUNION of the LANGSTON FAMILY and KINSMEN ORIGINIZATION will be held Saturday, June 11, 2005 at the North Arkansas Electric Building in Salem, AR. A form for the meal was on the back of the newsletter (we goofed and the price of the meal was left out, but not on purpose) that needs to be sent back to me as soon as possible, so we can get an accurate count to tell the caterer. Anyone wishing to attend that did not get a Newsletter can contact me by Email, and I will get right back to you. The noon meal will be catered by the Cattleman’s Restaurant in Salem. The price for the lunch is $8.75 for adults and this needs to be paid for before June 9 so we can pay the caterer. The menu is fried chicken, roast beef, corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, slaw, cake, peach cobbler, tea, coffee and hot rolls Come and get together to talk about genealogy, and the many families that tie into the Langston’s, and their history, plus enjoy a scrumptious meal. Last year we had several displays, pictures, quilts, charts, books, etc. Since people come from all over the U.S. we have a lot of fun and enjoy talking to everyone about their families. There will be door prizes and a surprise, which I think all you will enjoy. 1. Genealogy donations
    2. Im on llist that has some librarians they said the trouble with accepting genealogy material is limited space & resources to care for it while you have a lot and neatly placed they could have hundreds and stuck in boxes.I went to a small one and I found one book case shoved full and 50 boxes as usual time was limited so I never went back. The same with genealogy .S.S while the hearts are good and true there space and money aren't most Iv seen are in old store or like the one here an old house. The one place I think Ill check out is the godfrey Library it sounds good. 2. Dorothy Boynton
    3. List, I have had the codicil (sp) added to my will concerning my genealogy research. I think that is a good idea. This last week I visited a leading Texas University - rare book collection department and ask a lot of questions. One thing that I found out is that if you gift to a library then that library is bound by copyright laws. So, if I understood it perfectly and I may not, if I gave my things and then someone wanted a copy of something in my collection - they MIGHT not be able to obtain a copy because of the copyright law. I thought that might be a bad thing. I wanted anyone who needed the copies of my material to be able to get it. BUT if you have used published material in your research, you cannot give the right to copy someone else's published material just because it is in your collection. OF COURSE anyone who wishes may go to the library and make notes from your things, just NOT get copies. But I live a thousand miles from the library I wanted to gift. It would be impossible for me or most of my family to use the material from that library. I also learned that letters that contain addresses cannot be copied. My collection had lots of personal correspondance which often contains valuable genealogical information. I DO NOT know anything about gifting to a genealogical society. Where would they house the material? I would certainly like to know more about this. Are they bound by the same copyright laws? Of course, personally we are bound by copyright laws ourselves, but they do NOT as strickly apply to a person as to a library. I think you have to visit the library you are going to give things to and ask many, many questions or you will find that you are restricting instead of making available your material. Others, Please post to the list your knowledge about this subject. db

    3. Mary, I have tired about five times to contact you but your server will not accept my mail. It does not matter if you write me and I try to answer or if I just send something. I had sent out an update about the Wolf Family Reunion but it came back also. Can you put me on your list of acceptable friends or something. I know about spam and it says it is your spam guard but I have tried for several months to contact you and cannot get through. dbton@yahoo.com
