Hi Brenda! Pardon me for jumping in, but since Wilma is my mother, maybe I can be forgiven. I know about two John Richardsons - father and son - who lived in Izard County in 1860. They are my great-great-great-grandfather, John Gale Wade 'Yankee John' Richardson, born 1844 in Tennessee (possibly in Bedford County), who married Mary M. J. Dixon, born in Bedford County, Tennessee, the daughter of John 'Breshy' or 'Brushy' Dixon and the granddaughter of Matthew Dixon who led his family to Izard County from Tennessee in the late 1840's or early 1850s. Yankee John was the Izard County Coroner in 1868-1872, but decamped to Missouri when the Arkansas government came back under control of the Democrats instead of the Republicans. Yankee John's father was John G. Richardson, born 26 Jan 1820 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. His wife and the mother of his children was Sarah Matthew whom he married on 21 Nov 1839. John the Elder was known to be living in Izard County in 1860 since he and children were listed in the census. However, his wife Sarah was not listed in that census. I can account for Yankee John's three marriages, but I know nothing of the birth or death date of his mother. So I suppose that it is possible that his mother died sometime after 1856 when her youngest child was born and before 1860, and that John Richardson, the elder could have married Lucinda Dunham as a second wife. However, such a marriage would be sheer speculation on my part. To confuse the issue a bit more, I know of an entirely different Richardson family that arrived in Izard County before the WBTS. I believe that a William S. Richardson is written up in Goodspeed. I don't recall any John Richardson mentioned in that write-up, but it's a common enough name. -- Robert W. HI, I want to thank Gene Simpson and all the other people who worked to put together the Fulton County Cemetery book. It has been an invaluable help to me in connecting families and dates. I am descended from Roberts, Nisbett, Cooper, Spiller, Dixon, Richardson families, and cousin to practically everybody. I grew up in Fulton County, high school in Salem. My father was Ernest Roberts, the county surveyor for many years, and before him his father, Sidney Roberts was surveyor. Would love to exchange whatever information I have that would be helpful...I have the record book of the Prosperity ARP Church at Wheeling 1857--1909. -- Wilma King InterNet: wking@pokynet.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Genrit" <genrit@yahoo.com> To: <ARFULTON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, July 09, 2002 10:59 PM Subject: Re: [ARFULTON] From Elizabeth AR.

Ok, I'm Patty Riley and I live in Southern California. I am researching my 2nd great grandfather, Andrew Jackson Harris. He homesteaded in the Elizabeth area in 1862, I know he was still there in 1893 when he registered to vote. Other than that, I am trying to piece together his children, which are my great grandfather's siblings. I just found one of his brothers on the 1900 Fulton County census living in Big Creek township, which is where the homestead was, with wife and kids. I also got to visit in April and see the old homestead, which was pretty darn exciting! ;-) Part of the Elizabeth Cemetery is on the old homestead. I think some of my Harris may be buried in the Wyatt / Harris Cemetery and are unmarked. Some folks are supposed to be working on getting these graves marked. If anyone has any information on that, please pass it along. Thanks!! If anyone sees a connection, please let me know! Patty Descendants of Andrew Jackson Harris Generation No. 1 1. Dear List Members, Here it is the first of July and I am late in sending you the Second Quarterly Report. I was in Maryland and Delaware enjoying three of my children their spouses and five of my grandchildren for the 4th of July. Due to the lateness of this report I am not going to send the individual numbers of members for each of the lists I take care of. It is an all day job. If any of you really want to know how many are on your list, just e-mail me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net and ask. Be sure and let me know what list you are asking about. If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fullers Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will received an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. Always know that I will be more than happy to help you if you are having problems unsubscribing, you only need to ask. Please send this request to KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net not to the entire list. If you would like to visit the Archived messages of this list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search and from there you can search by dates. There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. When sending a posting to the list it would help if you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line. Doing this also might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. Many members are on many many lists and when they see a subject line that reads "My Ancestors" they just delete it. 2. If someone posts a message to the list that should not have been posted, please just delete it. Know that I am taking care of the problem. If you post your unhappiness, then you just continue on the problem. I know it is hard when your heart has been offended, but for my sake, and the sake of the list, please just delete it. Rootsweb has a wonderful Spam Detective and it stops most of it. You should see what comes across my screen. I have to look at each of them to make sure that what was stopped was truly Spam. Once in a while, one slips by though and if this happens, just delete it and go on with what we all love, genealogical research. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 4. The wonderful relationship that develops between list members is also one of a Mailing Lists Problems. I encourage you to respond to the entire list with genealogical responses, you never know who your response will help. In the same thought I would like to ask you to not respond to the entire list with personal responses. Such as, the first message from a member says "Happy Birthday Mary" and then Mary says "Thank you and then about 60 of our members also send "Happy Birthday Mary". This is what I mean by personal messages. Just keep in mind anything is ok to be posted as long as it has to do with the subject of the list. I know there are exceptions to most rules including this one. If you have a doubt ask me. KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net 5. Remember to keep your Virus protection up to date and never open any attached file unless you are 100% sure what it is and even then you are taking a chance. 6. Now the hardest thing is when one of our own, a fellow member becomes upset about a posting, something I have done or not done. It is so hard not to jump in and add our two cents. I want you to know how much I appreciate it when you just let these posting go by and delete them. Know that I am behind the scenes taking care of the problem. If you ever have a concern that I might have missed a message that needs addressed you are welcome to contact me during the day at Kathleen.burnett@era.com or in the evenings at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net. Please remember, so that this list is better for each of us, the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc., in other words Spam is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and your willingness to help make this list the success it is. It is your list and is here for your benefit. If you have suggestions or comments you would like in future reports, you only need to send them to me. Dear List Members, I know this list will effect only a few of you, but thought I would let you know of it beginning. The Buffalo-Hunters Mailing list was approved yesterday and now is ready to subscribe to. If you have ancestors who were Buffalo Hunters and or are interested in their history, this list will be the place to learn about the Buffalo Hunters of the Old West. I had two great uncles who were hired by the U.S. Government as Buffalo Hunters. Living in 2002 I know what they did caused starvation to a group of people, waste and the near annihilation of a species. Of this I am not proud, but what they did is a part of the history of this country and I am proud of them for doing what they thought was right at that time. To join, send only the word SUBSCRIBE to BUFFALO-HUNTERS-L-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM I look forward to the Buffalo-Hunters Mailing List becoming another tool for each of us to understand the world out ancestors lived in. Hello List: I haven't made to many new discoveries but am still researching the following families. Henry LANCE and Zelphia STAPLETON m 1835 moved to AR about 1859 and are shown on 1860, 1870 and 1880 Census in and around Mountain Home and North East. Hardy Martin Burten LANCE son of Henry and Sarah PHILLIPS also resided in the area. Henry Sheridan LANCE (grandson of Henry) and Desea Elizabeth MASON m 1884 started here and moved West. Thanks Terri Lance
Starting today (Monday, 6/10) and extending over several days, RootsWeb is going to be moving the list servers and other machines. No messages sent are expected to be lost, but the lists will be down for a while when it happens; please don't post "why aren't I getting mail" during that time.....you will when it comes back up, and you don't want half of it to be everyone on the list asking why aren't they getting mail. If you have trouble reaching other RW servers this week, it's probably for the same reason; try again in an hour or two or three..... Kathleen Burnett List Mom
