Can anyone help me. I am looking for the names and or locations of the cemeteries in Benton and Southfork Townships, in Howell County, Missouri, that are close, say 10 miles to the Fulton County line. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Gene Simpson genrit@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? "I need a Census Lookup for Newton Burks. He was born abt 1845 to 1849. He was married to Harriett Grisso in Fulton County, not sure when, and they had one child (Hugh Burks) in 1883. I am trying to establish where and when Newton Burks was born. I thank you in advance." Carmeletta Eidson Carmaletta, I could not find Newton Burks listed anywhere in Fulton County. I could not find him on any US Census, on the Homestead list, or the marriage lists. I did find Harriett Burks in The Pickren Hall Cemetery. I am pretty sure that this is Harriett Grisso Burks as she in buried in a cemetery close to Grisso Property. She is the only Burks that we have listed in the Fulton County Cemetery Book. I also found her in the 1870 Bennetts Bayou Township US Census. Here is the data: Grisso, Sousan 58 Head Monroe 24 Farmer brn Arkansas Harriett 21 Housekeeper brn Arkansas Her Grave has: Harriett Burks 1848-1928 Bennetts Bayou Township borders Baxter County in Arkansas and Ozark County and Howell County in Missouri. Only about 10-12 miles to each of these counties. They might have lived in one of these counties and she returned home later in life, where she is buried. Wish I had more to help you. Thoroughly enjoy the Fulton Co. website! I am interested in any Crouch history from Fulton-Izard Co. My gggrandfather was William Howard Crouch m to Mary Ann Bookout who is buried in the Roberts cemetary E. of Wheeling. I am interested in anyone who has knowledge of the 9 children born to James and Belle Crouch who lived in the Fairview Community. Jim Crouch owner or worked in a Blacksmith shop in Salem in the 1920's. I have dates but I would like to know more about the family. My paternal grandfather was Plesant Sidney Roberts of Wheeling. Thanks for your help!
William Kane Blevins was the father of Elkanah Blevins. I don't have a name for his wife. From: "James F. Montgomery" <pabst@btc-bci.com> Date: 2002/08/06 Tue AM 08:29:16 CDT To: ARFULTON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [ARFULTON] Blevins again Hi List, A while back, I forwarded an email from Wayne Blevins whose grgrandfather was Stephen Blevins. I am resending it plus a follow-up note in hopes that someone may shed some light on this Blevins family. Comments are encouraged;-) Judie An email from Wayne Blevins, great-grandson of Stephen Blevins dated March 30, 2002 wama@austin..rr.com Steven Decatur Blevins was born in Oxford, Arkansas in 1874 and died in Bridgeport, Texas in 1959. He listed his mother and father on his Social Security application that he filed in 1937, as Nacy C. Acklin and William K. Blevins. I understand that Nancy Caroline Acklin was married to Elkanah D. Blevins, yet there is a distinctive age differential. Is is possible that Acklin could have re-married another Blevins and given birth to Stephen? Perhaps this is simply coincidental, but I would like to pose the question. It appears rather remote that another Acklin and Blevins could have married in Izard or Fulton Counties during this particular time frame. Another email from Wayne dated April 6, 2002 is as follows: My wife and I just returned from a visit to Izard and Fulton Counties. It appears that my great-grandfather (Steven, born 1874) was the youngest son of Nancy C. Acklin who was married to William K. Blevins. William K. must have died shortly thereafter, since the 1880 census notes that Nancy K. was a widow. I suppose that she then married Elkanah D. Blevins and I do not yet know how he and William K. were related. I suspect that they were brothers, but have not confirmed. ==== ARFULTON Mailing List ==== If you wish to subscribe to or unsubscribe from the Fulton Co., AR list, use ARFULTON-l-request@rootsweb.com or ARFULTON-d-request@rootsweb.com if you are on the Digest list. ============================== To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 "You have no true understanding as to who you are, until you know the roots from which you came."

Virginia, Ok, I'll go with Mathilda knowing her own birth date. I don't know how old Smith was when he applied, but maybe his memory wasn't too good regarding his siblings ages. Afew more questions for ya'; On one of the first messages you sent, you had John David and Mathilda's marriage date as August 17, 1865, and on the outline you sent me and the one you sent Jean Mayfield Cuevas you have August 16, 1865. Which is right? >From somewhere I had Mathilda's marriage date as August 10, 1923, you have 1929. Again, which is right? Is Hampton and Dabner Hampton b. 1866 one and the same person We have an Ava for one of James Smith and Jenny Viola Pennnington's children. Could that be a nickname for one of the kids you have listed. I have no other info on her. And last, was Jenny Viola's last name Smith? '-) I called Paul Dean Lynch a little while ago. I was confused, because he told me Charley Pennington had a daughter named Jenny V. who married a Copeland, no first name. She must have been named for her aunt. Paul Dean siad that when Jenny's mother died, her Aunt Belle adopted her. This Jenny is still living according to Paul. I hope you don't mind, Virginia, but I thought I would send this to the Lynch, Izard and Fulton County lists. Maybe some of these Pennington researchers can give us a little help. If anyone has census, birth, death or marriage records to help with these Penningtons, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for checking your data against the Indian applications, I guess I have been lazy and didn't think to look that closely. I'll have to be more careful won't I? When I am finished entering your info into our tree, I will send an outline for corrections and additions. Gene, I very much appreciate your offer. I would be interested any enlightenment on our family mystery if you can help. Do you have any thing on: Melinda A. or C. Boles (or Finley or Clay). buried at Union Cemetery? Her stone seems to have disappeared. The small stone was hand carved by her son, David Henry Boles. Family I have spoken to have seen the stone in the past. They can't recall exactly what was on the stone. Most think it was "Melinda" followed with either a single inital, "A" or "C". They don't recall any last name being carved on the stone. Chances are the grave has no connection to surrounding graves, as I am told she was visiting family, suddenly became ill and died about 1920. I assume Union was the nearest cemetery. The story goes that she was abandoned with 3 sons by her husband, William Henry "Bill" Boles. (Bill is our family 'bad boy' for that reason.) Later, she is listed on census (1910 I think) living with son, Wm. Joseph Boles, as Melinda "Finley". She could have re-married or reverted to her maiden name. No body has a clue. I did find a Melinda Clay m. Henry Boles in MO, but the dates rally seem to far off to be her. Census did list MO as birth state and "C" (if that is really the letter on the stone) could be for Clay. Melinda was said to be full Indian. If I can confirm a maiden name for her, that will help the search in MO. Finley and Clay haven't given any positive leads so far. Below is chart starting with my ggp that could be helpful. Their home was on or the near the Fulton-Izard County lines around Day AR. Much of the surrounding area is now considered Horseshoe Bend. Descendants of William Henry Bill Boles and Malinda C. or A. unknown: 2. William Joseph Joe Boles b. 18 May 1874 d. 1932 m. 17 Mar 1899 + Anabell French (d/o Thomas Jefferson French + Luran Mitchell *2nd husband of Anabell French Boles: + George Jackson Jack Shelton 2. John T. Boles b. 1876 (believed died young, listed on 1880 census) 2. David Henry Boles b. 11 Nov 1880 d. 1922 + Sarah Ann Bookout b. Aug 1883 d.1961 (d/o Charles Henry Bookout + Margaret Persany (sp?) *2nd husband of Sarah Ann Bookout: + Mr. ? Tucker 2. Cleveland Greenberry Boles b. 1884 + Josie ? Also, I am told this Bookout line has Hatfield/Hatman, Gleghorn, and McCarthy lines. Can any one help connect these lines? Many thanks to all. Marsha Boles marshab50@aol.com

Gene Simpson, Thanks for the help and offering to take a photo of the MANES grave stones. I will be in Fulton Co. to do more researching in November and I sure will go again to Camp Cemetery and take pictures. Sure do appreciate your offer but I will be there--------------November is not to far away------ugh!! I travel to Fulton Co. and Sharp Co. every year for the month of November. (motorhome) I have several graves that I cannot find, but I keep searching for them. They are there somewhere, just, must not have grave stones. By the way, you have done a tremendous job for the Ar-Cemeteries site. I read them all. Thanks! Jay yaerohs@aol.com
Hi Jay, Thanks for the kind words but most of the credit should go to our web mistress Charlie Ward. She spends more time working on the AR-CEMETERIES site than I do surveying the cemeteries. Gene Simpson, I know better, Type O------ It is South Fork Twp, you are correct. (I had kin in Piney Fork Twp in Sharp Co) Ha! Thank you for the response and information. The David MANES you sent is the father of Richard Crowson MANES and the Annie MANES (Meadows) is his step mother in the Camp Cemetery. I have been to the Camp Cemetery, years ago, but at the time did not know about the connection of the MANES to my line (DACUS & SOUTHWORTH). Do you know if David and Annie MANES have grave stones on their graves?? Again, Thank you. Jay yaerohs@aol.com
