    3. Jackie, I also would like a copy, or transcript, of the obit for Margaret Casey Rosier who died July 2, 1957...not 1857 as Jackie mistyped, as well as the obit for her husband, David Michael Rosier, who died July 1, 1946 in Shady Grove, Fulton Co., AR. Her name was Margaret Lou Casey before she married David Michael Rosier on August 16, 1892 in Salem, Fulton Co., AR. She was born November 12, 1876 in Lawrence Co., AR. I would also like to identify her parents and siblings. "Lou" and her husband David M. Rosier are buried in Shady Grove Cemetery, Fulton Co., AR with a double marker inscribed as follows: -------------------------- ROSIER Father: David M. 1870-1946 Mother: Lou M. 1876-1957 At Rest -------------------------- Thanks, Travis Lehman ==================================== -----Original Message----- From: Jackie [mailto:jp55@wt.net] Sent: Sunday, December 15, 2002 2:16 PM To: ARFULTON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [ARFULTON] Obit Anyone on this list who could get the information from an obit on Margaret Casey Rosier who died 2 July 1857 in Fulton Co - buried Shady Grove. ? 1. Re: [ARFULTON] Fwd: [Singleton] obit of William C. Singleton 1931
    2. Hi Bill, I have been checking my notes and Arch was the son of William, born in 1882. William's first wife, Martha Jane Francis "Pattie" Jennett, died somewhere between 1904 and 1910. William is single by the 1910 census. He remarried in 1911, a Miss Ellen R. York. Around 1913 had a daughter named Winnie, William being in his late sixties! I am trying to find out when his first wife, Pattie, died. There are many mysteries concerning this family. It has been passed down that William had a Cherokee mother. His father was named "Osema", an unusal name. Another family legend has him driving a wagon for the Cherokees during the Trail of Tears. As a reward he was given a Cherokee bride. I have info about Osema's childhood, but his years during the Trail of Tears are missing. Alas the legends remain legends. I am very happy to have such interesting ancestors! I am also missing much of the history from William's years in Arkansas. I do have his Muster Roll Cards from his time with the 10th Missouri Volunteer Infantry Co. H CSA. -Mark

There are Rosiers in Shady Grove, Flint Springs, Salem, Mt Calm, and Young Cemeteries. There are many unmarked graves in those cemeteries and she could be buried there. I will try to locate an Obit for you. Sorry, cannot find any marriage of Laura Casey or Noah Ellis in Fulton County. Cannot find them in any cemetery in Fulton County. ===== Gene genrit@yahoo.com Dedicated to the preservation of Ancestral names. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? 3. Is there anyone on the list that could help me locate the marriage data for LAURA CASEY, born around 1871, to a NOAH ELLIS - probably in the 1890's. If not to Mr. Ellis, is there any marriage recorded for Laura Casey in the same timeframe? Thanks Jackie

    2. CORRECTION It has been some time and I seemed to have let my memory slip a little. It was not Guy Singleton, but ARCH SINGLETON I was thinking about. I beleive that Guy was a son of Arch and a brother to Roy. This is from a newspaper clipping from either an Arkansas Newspaper or a Missouri one from the year 1931. William C. Singleton was the son of Osema Singleton and the father of Edward Osema Singleton of Lebanon MO. William was my great great grandfather: "W. C. Singleton passed away at his home in Union, Arkansas, October 21, 1931, being almost 87 years old. He was born in North Carolina, moved to Laclede county (MO) with his parents when 7 years of age. His father built a log cabin where Lebanon stands today on what was known as Seven Oaks Prairies. After a few years they moved to Pulaski county on Bells Creek, near where Crocker is. The old barn is still owned by his grand-sons. The Colonel, as he was known by his old friends, served nearly four years in the Civil War under the command of General Price. He being in the Battle of Wilson's Creek then, went south with General Price. At the close of the war he settled in Franklin Co. Missouri, in 1880. Moved to Plato in 1895. He moved to Union, Arkansas, where he lived until his death. His wife having preceded him in death several years ago. He was an attorney-at-law for over forty years. He has many friends in the Ozarks. One son and his family, E. O. Singleton, have lived near Lebanon several years." In a letter (11/4/1931) written by his brother-in-law, James Lafayette Jennett of Kearny MO, to william's daughter Lettie Gilstrap he writes: "My dear niece, Your letter informing us of the sad news of the death of your dear father came to us just a few days ago. Also enclosed in your letter was the newspaper clipping giving a more extended account of his good deeds and splendid long life as he journied down the winding trail of life in the good old Southern State of Arkansas among the people he loved and liked to serve. The brightest star in his crown of life is that he was a Confederate Soldier and wore the faded gray jacket with honor and bravery..." William had served in the 10th Missouri Volunteer Infantry, company H, with his father Osema and brother Robert H. Singleton. I have their muster roll card info. Osema became ill and went home to recover and appears to have been murdered. William was captured in 1864 at Blairs Landing in Louisiana. Robert made it to the end when the 10th surendered. I am terribly interested in William, his father Osema and all of his brothers. My list of the sons of Osema are: Robert H., William C., Phillip Hoyle, Theodore, Vincent A., Preston B., Pinkney F., and Burl A. Singleton. 1. [ARFULTON] Re: Andrew Jackson Rhodes and James K. Polk Rhodes ( James Montgomery )
    2. pabst
    3. Hi cuz Robin Thanks for the info. Have put it in the tree. If you have any other info you would like to share would be glad to have it . James K. Polk Rhodes a brother of your great Grandpa was married to my Grandpa, William Ignatius Montgomery's Sister, Amanda Elizabeth Patterson Montgomery. We are real happy to get the info from you. We are trying to find the family of Sophronia Davenport ( Wiseman ) Montgomery the mother of Amanda and William Ignatius Montgomery. Have you by chance seen or heard anything on the family. Below is what we think we know. Cuz Jim and Judith ( Shuck ) Montgomery JIM. M LOOKING FOR SOPHRONIA/SAFRONIA Sophronia D. Wiseman was born February 1851 in Arkansas, and died May 8th, 1904 in Arkansas. She married James Ferguson Montgomery 6 July 1871. She is buried in Humphries Cemetery, Fulton County, Arkansas. We found that the middle initial "D." was the name Davenport. The children of Sophronia D. Wiseman and James Ferguson Montgomery were Mary FrancesMontgomery born about. 1873, Alfred T. Montgomery born April 14, 1874, Izard County, Arkansas and died 25 March 1964. He is buried in the Wiseman Cemetery, Wiseman Arkansas. Amanda Elizabeth Patterson Montgomery, born October 1883 in Arkansas. William Ignatius Montgomery born 11 September 1886, Morriston, Arkansas. He died June 1965. Buried in the Marked Tree Cemetery, Marked Tree, Arkansas. Lilly Leeonis Montgomery born 31 March 1880, Fulton County, Arkansas. Samuel Leondis Montgomery born 31 March 1890, Morriston, Arkansas. He died 9 February 1984. We found her in the 1870 Fulton County census living in the Wiley C. King household and in the 1880 and 1900 Fulton County census married to James. What we are really looking for is some information about her parents and/or siblings. On every census we have found, her parents and Sophronia were supposedly born in Arkansas. In the 1850 census there were three Wiseman's living in Fulton County, that we know of, so we are pining our hopes on one of them. They were all in Union Township on page 158, Thomas and Mary, Absolem and Nancy and Davenport and Matilda. Part of E-Mail 1 Feb 2001 from: Charles and Dee Colvin chrdcol@gte.net Hi Judie? Nice to meet a distant cousin!! Yes, my mother use to speak of Sophronia Davenport WISEMAN, and her name is among those that were in the family Bible. (Note it was a King Family Bible per Dee Colvin) The Bible has Safronia D. Wiseman Born 24 February 1851 Married James F. Montgomery 6 July 1871 We have also had a letter from Mr. Tom Chapman who is researching the Wiseman family. He wrote: "You can be sure that Sophronia is a descendant of either Martin or Davenport Wiseman - brothers, whose families settled in Arkansas. They lived for quite a few years in Tennessee but were natives of North Carolina - sons of Thomas and Cordelia Wiseman. Thomas was the first son of William and Mary (Davenport ) Wiseman." Thanks in advance Jim and Judy (Shuck) Montgomery up here in South Haven, Michigan Jim ROBIN FRANK wrote: > Hi - > Here's some information for you. > > Andrew was born on 14 Aug 1858 - Mt Grove MO > Married to Nancy on 13 Feb 1876 > Died on 20 Mar 1940 - Mt Grove MO > > Andrew and Nancy had lots of kids. > > James K.
