Gene Thanks you for the reply. I was giving a burial list of the Staten cemetery. it shows that it was surveyed by Royce K Bassham & Forest Bassham. here is what is says, Amy Ladd (ca1830-af1880)is known to be buried here in an unmarked grave. I am told that the information about Amy Ladd being buried in the Staten Cemetery came from the grand daughter of Amy Ladd. in the 1880 Fulton Co Ar census shows Amy as Anna Ladd & a daughter living with her son Henry A Ladd. I was also told that Amy Ladd died about 1900. I am just trying to find more information about Amy "Anna" Ladd I feel that Amy is buried in the Staten cemetery Thanks Very Much Regarda Orley H Taylor
There is an old Abandon Staten cemetery between Salem & Moko Ar, I am told that my G Grandmothers (Namey "Gaines" Taylor)twin sister (Amy "Gaines" Ladd) is buried there is an unmarked Grave. Does anyone have any information on the old Staten cemetery? Thanks Orley H Taylor

I am trying to find the grave of Jasper M. Bates (b. 1825, d. 1899) and wife Mary A. Odle Bates (b. 1825, d. 1900). Jasper's brother John N. Bates is in the Roberts Cemetery in Izard Co., but I have not been able to locate a marked grave for Jasper. If someone has the cemetery book for Fulton Co., would you please let me know if Jasper M. Bates (J. M. Bates) and Mary A. Bates (M. A. Bates) are buried in Fulton County? Thanks, Lee Anne
Re:(Amy "Gaines" Ladd) There are 12 marked graves in Staten Cemetery. The names are Cannon, Decker, Kirklin, Webb, and Witt. The death dates run from 1865 to 1904. There are quite a few graves that are unmarked or marked with a field stone. If you could give me more information, I would be glad to try and locate her. An Obit or date of death would really help. I would like to know if you are pretty sure that she is buried there so we can add her to the cemetery site. There are 82 unmarked graves in this cemetery. I don't show a listing for Amy or Namey in Fulton County. Let me know what other info you would like about Staten Cemetery. ===== Gene genrit@yahoo.com Dedicated to the preservation of Ancestral names. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Hi Judie! Try the URL http://www.skpub.com/genie/census/ar/fulton.html to see a map of Fulton County township boundaries. This is a single page on the web site at http://www.skpub.com/genie/index.html which provides County/township maps for the entire United States. This shows us that Union Township is in south central Fulton County. You will probably have to use the GNIS at http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form to learn that Pleasant Ridge Church is located on Highway 9 about midway between Salem and Mammoth Springs and hence located some ten or fifteen miles north of Union Township. On the other hand, we have the Pleasant Ridge Townhip lying in the southeast corner of Fulton County and some ten miles east of Union Township. The GNIS site can provide all sorts of useful information. In addition to the Feature Location maps that I used to get a quick location of the different Pleasant Ridges, it has black and white aerial photos and USGS topographic maps. Both of these can show individual buildings in the vicinity of rural locations. The topo maps also have an additional feature. If you look at one, you will notice an overlay of red lines in a rectangular pattern. These are the surveyors section lines for that area. With a little effort (Try zooming out on the map), you can identify the section number, township number and range number and thus figure out exactly where some piece of land is from a deed description. -- Robert W. Morn-in Sharron Thanks for the reply. We are related to your Wiseman's and Lawrence's ( Lowrence ) " by the way is it spelled Lawrence or Lowrence, and in a round about way your Montgomery's. I am going to forward this to the Izard and Fulton County Arkansas list Atten: Vera Reeves, Evalyn Champion. I think that your Montgomery line is also are theirs. Dear List Members, On Monday, December 23, I begin my Christmas Holiday week. I am spending it with my four children, their wives and husbands and my 9.5 grandchildren. It will be the first time in over 10 years I have had all my children with me for Christmas. I am thrilled to say the least. It is hard, as many of you know, when all of your children and grandchildren live thousands of miles from you. As you have already guessed, I will not be spending as much time as usual online watching over your list, but I will be back to full time on Tuesday, December 31st. I have also chosen not to have a list-sitter watch you while I am away. I really do not think you need one. I will be checking in each evening after the grandchildren and down for the day. If there is a problem which you think I need to address, send a personal message to me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net. I will check those first thing each night. If off topic messages are sent or if suddenly someone calls for a Roll Call, please just let it pass. Just smile and remember what I would say and hit that delete button. I will take care of the problems for you as soon as I check in. I have the best lists on Rootsweb and the greatest members so I know you will be just fine. I wish for each of you and yours a special Holiday Season filled with love, friendship, friends and family. I thank each of you for your friendship and for your support this past year. You fill my my world. Kathleen Burnett List Mom
Hi, My husband has been trying to connect his grgrandmother Sophronia Davenport Wiseman to the Wisemans of Izard and Fulton County, Arkansas for some time now with disappointing results. She was born February 1851 and died May 1904. The first record we have of her is in the 1870 Fulton County Census where she is living with the Wiley C. King family. Then a note found in a King family bible mentions her marriage to James Ferguson Montgomery July 6, 1871. She is in the 1880 and the 1900 census also. In the 1850 Fulton County census there are three Wiseman families listed. They are Absolom and Nancy, Thomas and Mary and Davenport and Matilda. Have you ever come across anything for a Davenport? My speculation is that he and Matilda were the parents of Sophronia, and they had both died before the 1870 census. They are not in the 1860 Fulton County census which might have held the answer, but it is if they dropped out of sight. Looking forward to hearing from you, Judie Montgomery
Hi Gene, Thanks very much for your kind offer of help. I'm sorry - I have no information on the two Rosier's you asked about, but as I have concentrated on the maternal ancestry of the Rosier women rather than the Rosier surname, I have only minimal Rosier data. Let me ask this, Gene. As you are going to pursue the obits, you must live in Fulton Co. Margaret Louise Rosier's mother was Margaret Casey who died in 1916 in Viola - buried in Viola cemetery. I do not have a death date for her and don't know how to obtain one, as I would very much like to get some type of obit on her. Could you see if the courthouse has a death record for Margaret Casey to get a complete death date? Travis: You are correct - I did mistype - the death date is 1957. Margaret Louise Casey was the daughter of A.O. Casey and Margaret P. Gillespie who are buried at Viola Cemetery in Fulton Co.
