Hi gang. This a summary of what all I have collected. Additions or correction welcome. Much of this is a summary of Noel Moser's recollections recorded by his son Wm. Hi Mary Sorry to take so long to get back to you. Thanks for your help and all. No we have not got With Bill yet. Would you have a E-mail for him?. A few years back when we were down to Calico Rock on a visit to our Aunt Georgia Beebe's we stopped at the motel and talked with some one not sure who now. He gave us a card, but we can't find it at the moment. Ada Montgomery Moore's father, John Ferguson Montgomery was a first cousin to my great grandfather James Ferguson Montgomery. Their middle names came from their mothers who also were cousins. Was Carolyn speaking of G.T. Humphries? We met him the first time we were at the Humphries Cemetery. A nice old man. We have stopped in a couple of times to see his son Larry at the Courthouse in Salem. It's amazing when we start digging into the past, just how often different family connections pop up. Thanks again for your time and help JIM M Mary Cooper Miller wrote: >Hi, Jim! Hi Listers We are requesting a marriage lookup by SKS. It would be for a Charlie Davis to a Alma Clara Shelton, about 1920, exact date not known. There is a child Louise Davis (1922-1923) buried in the Saddle Cemetery, which we believe to be their child. Louise's birth is what we are using to guess at the marriage date. There may be variations on the actual name used for Charlie. Thanking you in advance Jim and Wanda Winnipeg, where it is now 23F, with 5 inches of snow on the ground.
It's much warmer here in CA! Charley Davis, age 21, married Alma Shelton, age 19, on 09 Nov 1921. Marriage book p. 148. LDS microfilm roll #1290018, Item I, pages 01 thru 640. Dear List Members, I look forward to the year 2003 being a great one for our list. Because of the amount new members we have subscribing every day, I feel it is time to again post the suggested rules of the list...even us long time members need reminding once in a while. 1 I have very few rules on the lists I watch over. The main one is to treat your fellow members as you would like to be treated. Also the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc. (in other words - spam) is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me Kathleen Burnett KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net 2. If someone posts a message to the list that should not have been posted, please just delete it. Know that I am taking care of the problem. When you post your unhappiness, then you just continue on the problem. I know it is hard when your heart has been offended, but for my sake, and the sake of the list, please just delete it. Rootsweb has a wonderful Spam Detective and it stops most of it. You should see what comes across my screen. I have to look at each of them to make sure that what was stopped was truly Spam. Once in a while, one slips by though and if this happens, just delete it and go on with what we all love, genealogical research. Some suggestions to make our list run smoother are: 1. If you would put information such as names, places, and dates relating to your posting, in the subject line, it might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. 2. Please remember to delete the taglines and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 3. Remember to keep your Virus protection up to date and never open any attached file unless you are 100% sure what it is and even then you are taking a chance. If you do notice that one of our members has a virus, please do not post their name and e-mail address across the list. Let me know and I will take care of the problem. Most likely the member already knows and is in a major state of stress. Receiving messages of each of us will only cause his or her stress level to rise. 4. Please remember, we have members from all walks of life, all ages and all levels of education on our list. Be understanding. The very person who mis-spelled every other word in their posting could be the very one with your missing family bible in their attic. Some sites to remember: 1. There is a great Rootsweb site, Password Central, you can go to if You want to find out what Rootsweb lists you are a member of or need to unsubscribe from a list, just follow the instructions. http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ 2. If you would like to visit the archived messages for this list you may go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you want to see the archives for. From there you can search by date. 3. If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fullers Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and your willingness to help make this list the success it is. Thank you for your reply I have don't know where he died, he was in Fulton Co. and close to Hardy, because my grandpa, his son was born in Hardy. If this helps any. Betty Sims in AL
Would you ask if this 90 year old remembers any Thorntons from Fulton Co.? My g grandpa William F. Thornton lived there for many years. This man could remember some of Williams children. BSims1703@aol.com
The Name may have been Crouch----?I know they "shoed" horses, and rumor is that Jesse James came by for "service". Story mentions a man named Chestnut who was involved in a horrible accident when he stepped on the running board of a car and fell to his death...Also mention of a terrible tornado that came through Salem in March of 1924 that destroyed the church. My mother's brother, Truman Crouch, now 90, relates the Salem stories about his father, my grandfather, James William Crouch.
The records I have shows no William F Thornton. there are several buried there but no headstones My records shows that there are only 12 to 13 with stones The others are marked with field rocks. Regards Hershel Taylor
BSims Does your information suggest that William Thornton is buried in Staten Cemetery or could he be buried in another cemetery in Fulton County? As Hershel Taylor states There are more unmarked graves then marked ones. If you have info on him being buried there, we will add him to the cemetery list. If he might be buried in another cemetery, please let me know and we will do a little more research. I show Thorntons buried in Salem and Riverside Cemeteries. I''m looking for any information about a BlackSmith Shop that operated in Salem in the early 20's and 30's. My grandfather, J.W. (Jim) Crouch lived in Salem near the "Paden" house, but moved back to Fairview and died in 1924. Any information about 9 children born to Jim and Laura Belle(Greene) would be greatly appreciated. I have marriage record of T.J. Crouch and Theo Caldwell, but any infor. would be helpful. Jim and L.B. Crouch are buried at Harmony Cemetary..Also, a photo of the Harmony church would be great.
