Did get this response from Charles Carroll: The Malinda Cunningham you are discussing, dau. of Peyton, married Peter S. Newman on 18 Feb 1866. Malinda and Peter died in 1869 without children. I would be happy to exchange information on any of the Fulton County or Adair County Cunningham family. Might help someone. Happy hunting! Marsha
I'm glad you sent this second message because I was going to write and tell you about those buried at Riverside. There are Wahlquists still living in Mammoth Spring. Hi Catherine, Thank you so much for answering my question. I am trying to help another person locate his ggrandfather Nelson Hawkins Wahlquist who imigrated to the Camp area from Sweeden in 1862. He says that the ggrandfather was buried in a cemetery beside the Methodist church in Camp. He is not listed in any cemeteries around that area and is probably buried in Camp Cemetery in an unmarked grave. Thanks again for your help, Gene Simpson genrit@yahoo.com __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! There was a Methodist Church at Camp. My mother spoke of going to revival meetings there in the early part of the 20th century - 1905 -1920. I believe the church at Camp continues today. The pastor at the Mammoth Spring Methodist Church is also shared with Camp. Of course, with current day budget problems, something may have changed in the past couple of years. Could some one in the know get us straight on the birth date of Riley Morris? We have him born 1866 but this can not be right. in the writings below it says that they went to see him in 1880 and that she had not seen him for 32 years. This makes him born at least before 1848. It says his death would be March 1880 in Texas. Jim Montgomey In writings from William Ridgway, Ann Martha Montgomery's second husband, in an email from the ARIZARD Rootsweb mailing list sent by Peggy King Truesdell dated April 27, 2000: ". . . So, on November 18, 1877, I was married to the widow Ann Montgomery. She was a good woman, though I made a mistake for we both had children and no two sets of children will hardly ever agree. She treated me well. In 1880, we took a visit to Texas to visit her brother, whom she had not seen for 32 years. It was a happy meeting, not long for them to enjoy, for one month after we got there, he took pneumonia and died. Not long after his death in March, I came back to Arkansas. Her brother's family wanted her to stay a while. She came back in June. Her brother's name was Riley Morris, and he was a strong Primitive Baptist. I see that the Arkansas death certificates were not issued until after 1914 or so. I was told by my great uncle before his death last year, that his grandfather, William H. Wright had died when he was riding his horse through the woods and was attacked by robbers. I don't know if he fell from his horse and died as a result or was shot, etc. I don't know precisely when or where that would have happened. I had tried once before to order a death certificate from the state and they came back with no results. William was still alive in Fulton County for the 1910 census. Can anyone suggest where else I might find about his death? Would the county courthouse hold such records, or would there be a newspaper archive somewhere that might have that story? Thank you in advance for any guidance you can provide. Sherry Quade
Hi Melodee, We don't have the Fulton History book, however from the "Sanders - Hively - Wayland" by Floydene Sanders Gillihan we find Rose Marie Sanders, daughter of Ben Sanders and Lettie Perryman. Rose Marie Sanders m. Harlin C. Hively (b. 1918.). In the 1910 Bryan Twp, Izard Co AR census we found #72/73 Sanders Ben 37 m1 13 AR TN TN Lettie 32 m1 13 5/5 AR TN TX Owen son 11 AR AR AR Faye dau 8 AR AR AR Gay? dau 5 AR AR AR Jewel dau 3 AR AR AR Opal dau 10/12 AR AR AR This census says that Ben and Lettie had one marriage, 13 yrs married, and Lettie has had 5 children, 5 living. There were 3 households of Perrymans living only 1 or 2 doors away, but none old enough to be Lettie's parents. Also a Walter Sanders 25, with wife and 2 children, next door to Ben. You might check Izard Co. for a marriage record about 1897.
