Hi List, Does anybody know where I would be most likely to find an obituary on my great great uncle, Richard Franklin HOOPER? What newspaper was in publication at the time? He died 19 July 1900 in Franklin County, Arkansas and is buried at Highland Cemetery in Ozark. I'm assuming that there was some published mention of his passing since he was rather prominent in the County having been a school teacher, superintendent of schools, and having served two terms as a State Representative (1886-1888 and 1892-1894). In 1987 a man had borrowed the original funeral books form Greer Undertakers to copy these OLD books for the historical society. Are these materials available somewhere? Sorry, but I can not remember the name of the man that borrowed the books to copy them off. Does anyone know anything about this? Thank-You Anita

Teresa, Just a suggestion . . . if you have access to a Family History Center in your area, you can order Film #1034244. They will order it from the main LDS library in Salt Lake City for a small charge (I think less than $5.00). You will be notified when it arrives. You can then use their microfilm viewer. The marriage record you are looking for is on this film and should be easy to find (they will be in date order on the film). Then you can see the record for yourself and print a copy for your records. To find a Family History Center near you, go to www.familysearch.org (the LDS web site) and on the right side you will see where it says "Find a Family History Center near you . . ." Click on it and fill in the requested information. Good luck, Heather

I would be interested in corresponding with anyone who is researching the ROBERTSON family in Franklin County. Henry Columbus ROBERTSON born 12/6/1844 and died 2/28/1923 and Susan [Susie] Elizabeth HOOPER born 6/15/1862 and died 6/12/1936 were married 8/2/1877 in AL. My grandmother was Mary Elizabeth HOOPER born 15 Sept 1850 in Gadsden AL. She married Marcellus Chesley BOATWRIGHT born 22 Sept 1849 in Murray County, GA. I have found both of these families in AL in the 1880 Census by 1890 they were in Franklin County, AR, I believe these two HOOPER women are related but have not been able to confirm it to date.
