Melissa, I sure wish it was, I don't recognize any of the names right off, but that doesn't mean we're not connected! The only Nichols names I have right now are Lawson Nichols from TN b @ 1814; his son, Webster Lawson Nichols (later dropped the Webster) who married Mary Blancett; then my g grandmother Frances (Fannie) Nichols Jordan who was their daughter, and 2 of her siblings I know the names of Charlie and Oma or Omie who married a Keith. By the time your Farmer married Nichols, my immediate Nichols family had moved to Indian Territory/Ok. Now, it doesn't mean that we're not related, so if you don't mind, I'll keep your information in my files and keep in touch! Thanks so much! You won't find a birth certificate, however you may find a birth announcement. Call the main branch in Franklin Co and ask them how far back their local newspapers go and if they travel through Inter-Library Loan. There are four common ways to find birthdates from before civil registration times. First, birth announcements in the local newspapers. Second, social security application form. Third, tombstones will frequently list birthdates. Fourth, bible records. I just want to stress the fourth one a minute. I find many people just trace back back back and never give a thought to tracing forward. I have found much more information by tracing all siblings down to today and querying the living, then I ever found by tracing dusty records back. The living descendents of your ancestor have living history such as 'he left his first wife and went to work as a prison warden for 7 years and then came home and his son never wanted to talk to him again.' You can't get that out of a land transaction... Also the living may have that elusive bible record that you are seeking. -Will In a message dated Tue, 6 Nov 2001 9:42:45 PM Eastern Standard Time, Kayo549@aol.com writes: > > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Cash/Stone > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GV.2ADI/211.1.1 > > Message Board Post: > > Thank you Will..yes..that means he was born about 1858,in Franklin Co. There were several Ivy and Iveys families in Franklin Co in the 1840-1880 time period and I believe they may all be related. It is possible the George Ivy you have is the father of my James, and also possible that he is his uncle. I trace all the Ivy, Ivey lines in Franklin county. You may run across the mis-information that Mary (Covert) remarried to James Ivy after George. Actually the Mary Ivy who married James Ivy was Mary the dau of James and Lydia Ivy. She was much younger than old Mary (Covert) Ivy. This Mary Ivy the younger was also the Mrs Mary Ivy who married to Thomas B Ford. This family later moved to Eugene, Oregon as did Lydia Ivy after James had died.

Well the answer is yes. George Ivey married Elizabeth "Betty" Gilbreath in St. Claire county ILL. on Feb.6. 1816. They were the parents of Lovina/Levinia born 1822, Nancy M. born 1814, Hugh born 1825 and Elizabeth Caroline born in 1829. Betty Gilbreath Ivey died in about 1833. George then married Susan Canterbury in Independence Ark. March 5, 1834. Then he married Mary Covert Alstot in Franklin County April 11, 1850. I am descended from Lovina. I need information on whom she married first. I know she married Wade Hampton Hudson in 1843 Red River County Texas. We believe she married a Baker first but need his name. Any help with that appreciated and if you need more on the George Ivey line let me know.
