I guess Dudley got off free because on Jan 29, 1903, the "Eagle" [Ashley Co paper] reported, "Dudley Wolfe...was shot and killed by the accidental discharge of a gun in the hands of Bob Neal, in the Beouf Swamp a few days ago. They were out hog hunting, and it seems that Bob had caught a hog with his hands and was trying to hold the animal, with the gun also in his hands, as Mr. Wolfe came up to where he was. In the scuffle with the hog, the gun was discharged, the load striking Mr. Wolfe and killing him."
