    3. I found this old newspaper clipping in my mother's things after she died. Unsure if Jefferson Twnshp is in Drew or Desha counties but thought I would post it anyway. By the way, his name was Daniel Granderson Lee (so why D.J. for initials? a nickname?) Jo-Ann ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------ "D. J. Lee Winchester, Dec. 3 -- (Special) -- D. J. Lee 78, for many years a resident of Jefferson township, died at his home four miles east of here at 7 o'clock Sunday night, November 23. Mr. Lee was a native of Mississippi but he had resided in Arkansas since his boyhood, making his first home in this state in the Selma neighborhood. He was married to Miss Jennie Edwards about 60 years ago and they settled on the farm where he resided until his death. Following the death of his first wife, Mr. Lee was married to Mrs. Benjamin Long who died there three years ago. Two years ago Mr. Lee married Mr. Lee married Mrs. Elizabeth Wright who died in February, this year. Mr. Lee throughout his life was active in church work and community activities. He was for many years a leader in the Mt. Moriah Baptist church near here. The death of Mr. Lee marks the passing of one of the few remaining pioneer settlers of this territory. He is survived by two sons, Overton Lee, with whom he was residing at the time of his death and Varnell Lee of McGehee; one daughter, Mrs. W. H. Conrad of Jefferson; a stepson, Chester Long of Pine Bluff; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Conrad of Moscow; two sisters, Mrs. N. Leek of Star City and Mrs. Laura Roberson of Dumas. Funeral services were held at Scott cemetery near here Monday afternoon, November 24. Rev. J. L. Leonard, pastor of the Tillar Methodist church, conducted the services.
