I still say that these names are all interlinked if enough sifting is done.......they may not be directly, but they are going to be collaterally......the Clays/Spotswoods/Dandridges/Fieldings/Lees/Lewises, etc. are all one mighty intertwined bunch in my gestimation. I wish I had the 3 different copies of the Lewis family history because they tie this all together. I'm convinced that this is where many of these common lst names are originating. As I said before, in my great-grandmother's family, the Lewis name was so important that many of the children carried it either as a first or middle name. These were prominent families, and even though the money and fame had dwindled by the time each generation added 15 to 30 grandchildren, the blood line was still there. Family connections to greatness are hard to release even after the presitige of money and position are gone.
