    3. There are, or were, two homes for orphans in Monticello. The Bottoms Baptist Orphanage is still in operation as the Arkansas Baptist Home for Children. The mailing address is P O Box 108, Monticello, AR 71655. There was a Day Care Center founded in 1910 by the United Charities of Monticello; it became the Presbyterian Home in 1923. Unfortunately, the records from these institutions were lost in a fire in 1935. Which are you interested in? If it's the Baptist home, I may be able to help you. My maternal grandmother was there for a time early in this century. Unfortunately, a lot of my research notes were boxed up and put into storage by mistake the last time we moved and I still haven't found all of them. Some time back, though, I found a book about the history of Drew County in my local library, and I remember that it contained information about the Home. If it's the Baptist home you're interested in, let me know, and give me an idea of what you're trying to find out. I'll see if I can track it down for you.
