There are, or were, two homes for orphans in Monticello. The Bottoms Baptist Orphanage is still in operation as the Arkansas Baptist Home for Children. The mailing address is P O Box 108, Monticello, AR 71655. There was a Day Care Center founded in 1910 by the United Charities of Monticello; it became the Presbyterian Home in 1923. Unfortunately, the records from these institutions were lost in a fire in 1935. Which are you interested in? If it's the Baptist home, I may be able to help you. My maternal grandmother was there for a time early in this century. Unfortunately, a lot of my research notes were boxed up and put into storage by mistake the last time we moved and I still haven't found all of them. Some time back, though, I found a book about the history of Drew County in my local library, and I remember that it contained information about the Home.
