It is very likely that gg-grandmother Lizzie Plunkett-Loveless is buried at the 16th section cemetery. Marjorie Knowles has a map of both the 16th and Valley/Ozment cemeteries. I have never seen them but I think there are several plots in the center of the 16th that there are already burials. These plots are near the center/back of the cemetery and my grandmother, Clara Loveless-Glennon, once told me there were a lot of Loveless' buried there. Several years ago, when it was common for us poooooooooooor folks not to be able to afford a tomb stone of any kind to put up a heart of cypress board which would last for many years. I can remember when these old weather worn boards lined and spotted that section of the 16th. There were even a pine knot or two for markers. Thus, someone was mowing the 16th one summer and gathered all those markers up and threw them over the back fence. I once heard my Grandpa Glennon talk about digging a grave at the 16th and un-earthed some casket handles in an area of unmarked graves. Regarding those cypress boards - rdea, did you know that at the burial mound where our uncles & aunt, John, Enoch, and Obedience are buried, there are still some remnants of cypress markers there? Almost certainly, Uncle Johnny Knowles put them there since he and Aunt Alice Ozment-Knowles have a still-born baby boy buried there too. Uncle Johnny kept the site up until he died. Good to hear from you cousin Melissa - the good along with your reminders of rootsweb. BW
