Can anyone tell me how to find the burial location of John C. Richardson, died 1875-6 in Franklin Township? I believe he may have a very young son buried there, died 1880. I am also looking for his mother-in-law, Nancy O. Gibson Tabor, died February 8, 1880, same place. She is on the 1880 Mortality Schedule, but not on the transcription on the Drew County website. I would be grateful for any help. Thanks, Alice in KY

Thanks, Alice in KY ALICE, the people you are looking for would have been in Selma where both sides of my dad's family lived. My great grandfather, John Haisty, donated the land for the cemetery in Selma around 1870, probably after the death of his wife. Our family has kept the cemetery records for years. There is no listing for a Richardson or Tabor in the Selma Cemetery, however, there are many graves, possibly from the time frame that you are looking for, for which the stones are just a pile of rubble. They obviously were not made of granite and are just gone now. Some of my own family markers have disappeared, which I have replaced. If the John C. Richardson you are looking for was born about 1836 in Tennessee and had a wife named Adelia born about 1851 in Mississippi, they are listed household 50 in Franklin Twp., Drew Co., AR as J. C. Richardson and Adelia. No child is listed, but could have been born after the 1870 census. Many of the people of the Selma/Old Florence area attended a Presbyterian Church in Old Florence, just up the road from Selma. There was a cemetery at the church. This cemetery is overgrown and many of the stones there are broken and unable to be read. Either this cemetery or Selma would be an option for your folks, but there is no record in the cemetery book. I hope that this is of some help. Carolyn Haisty camayh@cox-internet.com
