    3. My Uncle was in the CCC camp from 1937-39 but he and several other Arkansas men were in Ames/Bedford Iowa where they constructed a beautiful public campground called Lake of Three Fires. It is a beautiful place and he regaled us with stories of their escapades. He also was very proud of the gorgeous trees, now 60+ years old, that were tiny seedlings exported there from Arkansas. My cousin has a video taken about 1992 when he went for a memory trip and told us all about the construction of the park. He was very proud of the fact that he personally hand cut about 2/3 of the stone that was used to build the Ranger station. He had several pictures of the men in his company. It is a very important part of our history that most of our children never heard of. It saved a lot of families from starvation. Just wanted to share my thoughts.
