To: Peggy Calk and Mary Lasiter: I am butting in on your conversation, because I too am related to John S. YATES. The Ed Yates mentioned in Peggy's e-mail is the son of John S. YATES and Mary F. JOHNS, my great-great-grandparents. I have John S. YATES, b. December 1839, supposedly in Mississippi (though I haven't found him there yet), d. after 1900 in Arkansas. He married Mary F. Johns, b.11-22-1842/Alabama, d. July 9, 1903 in Drew County, AR. They married July 14, 1858 in Ashley County, AR, according to "Arkansas Marriage Records." Their children were: Josephine Yates, b.1861/AR, m. Hearn; Eugenia Anne Yates, b. 1-14-67/Barkada, Drew Co., AR, m. John Wiley McCann; (My great-grandparents); Harriett E. Yates, b. 10-25-1869/AR, d. 11-25-1907/AR, m. Walter F. FERGUSON; Ed Yates, b. September, 1870/AR, d.? m. Minnie E. (?), b. 3-6-1872, d. 3/13/1900 in Drew County, AR. I have Ed's children as follows: Claude E., b. June 1890 Sara? M., b. October 1892 John W., b. March 1895 Jack, b. September 1897 As yet, I have found no record of a Lafayette. I doubt if he is a child of any of the above. I believe I have sources for most of the above. Let me know if this is of interest to you. Helen Peggy Calk wrote: > Thank you so much Mary.
