    3. Jann; I accept the fact I was wrong about the earthquake. When I spotted that April 1 date and the fact that I had never heard it mentioned I just assumed it was an "April fool prank" sent to the paper. I would love to read more articles about it,but only because I would like to learn more about it not to convince me it happened. I believe the New Madrid earthquake was in the early part of the 19th century. I have read where some historians believe it was the worst earthquake to ever hit North America.So few people lived in the area at that time and the type buildings of those days limited the death toll. I think the safe zone for humans is considered to be south of a line from about Star City to Dumas for any future earthquake of this magnitude.
