Advance Monticellonian Feb. 23, 1932: Allen Goodwin, aged 25, manager of the McGehee Lumber Company, was injured fatally in a collision between his coupe and a truck, driven by Thomas Ivy, at a street intersection at McGehee, Friday night. Ivy and Wesley Thomas, occupants of the truck were injured. Goodwin died 45 minutes later in the Missouri Pacific hospital. Ivy suffered several broken ribs and injuries to his face, while Thomas suffered only minor injuries. Goodwin was thrown from his car, his head striking a hub cap of the coupe and then the curb. The truck turned over three times, pinning Ivy and Thomas beneath it. Both machines were damaged badly. Funeral services for Mr. Goodwin were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Presbyterian church, with the Rev. G.W. Sizemore, pastor, in charge, assisted by the Rev. S. F. Jenkins, pastor of the Baptist church. Mr. Goodwin is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Goodwin, three brothers, John Goodwin of Monticello and Charles and George Goodwin of McGehee, and three sisters, Emma Jane, Annette and Mary Etta Goodwin of McGehee. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
