Jan. 29, 1926 - On Friday afternoon Miss Frances Raoul entertained at her home for Miss Josephine Deal of Little Rock. About 25 children enjoyed the afternoon, which was spent in playing games, finding the missing half of their mother goose rhyme, etc. Those present were: Josephine Deal, Mabel Whiteside, Marguerite Bell, Bessie Ratterree, Keats Henry, Ailene Ratteree, Sarah Irvin, Nannie Drinketh, Jerry Stephens, La Fran Hankins, Joy Summerville, May Nell Hudspeth, Virginia Davis, Elizabeth Farbridge, Frances Raoul, Dean Sue Shelton, Merl Shelton, Jack Shelton, Hern Owens, Dallas Miles, Charles Kimbro, Charles Jackson, James Jackson, Dick Davis. Feb. 1, 1927 - Clifton Barnett, 18 years of age died at the family residence on Gabbert street in this city last Wednesday, after an illness of about one week. Clifton was a son of Mrs. Lillie Prewitt of this city,and was a sophomore in the Monticello High School, and after school hours was employed by the Fish Drug Company. He was bringing in some wood blocks at home, in a tub, and in lifting the tub overtaxed his strength, causing an injury, from which peritonitis developed causing death. Services were held at the family residence at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. K. Irvin, and burial was in Mt. Tabor cemetery. He is survived by his mother, one sister and three brothers. Feb. 1, 1927 - The Pennant Service Station on East Gaines Avenue, which has been operated by Mr. Dallas Calhoun, has been purchased by Robin and Alsobrook and will be operated under the same name. E. E. Robin is the son of Mr. E. Robin of College Station and V. H. Alsobrook is the son of Mr. E. P. Alsobrook of Lacy. We wish for these young men much success in their new business.
