Collins, Selma, etc. Many people fled from the Tillar area to Selma which is on somewhat higher ground. My mother, Lucy Mae OWENS at the time, was teaching school in Selma then, and my dad's family lived there. She always told of many boats bringing people to the hill just past (east of) the Erwins' place where the Selma residents picked them up and took them into their homes.
