I just recently found a long sought after link in my father's Drew Co family, or it recently hit me in the face...so here I am asking questions and making statements etc. My gg-grandfather was John T. Huddleston who lived in the Florence area until his death after 1910. He married Nancy J. "Annie" Bean in Drew County. Annie's parents were Calvin J. and Caroline Bean, both born in Alabama. In the 1860 Desha Co. Census Franklin Twp I found the following: C. J. Bean age 38 born AL Overseer N. C. wife age 30 born AL N. J. [f] "Annie" age 13 dau born AR John W. age 11 son born AR C. M. age 4 son born AR. By 1870 both families were living next door to each other in Drew Co. Franklin Twp: J. Huddleston age 25 born AL Nancy J. "Annie" age 23 born MS Louisa age 6/12 born 1869 [next door] Calvin Bean age 49 born AL Caroline age 41 born AL John W. age 21 born MS Calvin M. age 14 born MS In the Florence Church Records mention is made of Calvin and John W. Bean, but I haven't had any luck finding much else other than a marriage record in Lincoln Co.: 1880 Desha Co., AR Franklin Twp: Calvin Bean age 58 Sara E. age 48 Lillie Elliott age 18 st-dau W. Lee Elliott age 15 st-son Dorcus Haysel [?] age 9 Dan Erwin age 24 Black [servant] [next door] John Huddleston age 36 Annie age 33 Ewin "Ed" age 6 Lillian age 4 Aubrey age 2 Thomas age 3/12 After the death of Calvin Bean's first wife, he married S. E. Elliott July 27, 1873 in Lincoln Co. I believe his wife attended the Florence church too. If anyone has information on any of these families, please contact me.
